    Today's Roadster Orphan

That’s got to have more to do with Hagerty vs Bringatrailer? That would be silly for Orange paint to justify the same premium as a brand new battery… right?!

    Today's Roadster Orphan

I understand from a purely logical perspective where you are coming from, but I think it’s hyperbole to say that the only difference is some badges. I can put signature badges on any car but I can’t make that car one of the first 100 built if it wasn’t (using that number as a place holder here...

    Today's Roadster Orphan

That auction is really interesting to me. To have 2,800 miles and a literally brand new R80 upgrade (installed September 2023), I thought for sure it would bring over $100k. My takeaway is that maybe prices are being driven by collectors that want to stash away cars with provenance...

VIN 1418 is home in TX

Just wanted to share the exciting news that VIN 1418 arrived safely to Texas where it will be cherished and enjoyed! I am really happy to be an active member of the Roadster community again and can't wait to parade this beauty all over DFW and beyond! :)

    Today's Roadster Orphan

Interesting listing on bringatrailer.com. This one has been owned by The Petersen Auto Museum since 2017: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-tesla-roadster-31/ Just listed and already bids over $100k, should be fun to watch!

    Today's Roadster Orphan

Dat was me :) I sold 543 in 2008 when I was changing jobs and could no longer justify a third vehicle, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to make 1418 an orphan no more!

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 14,600 miles - WARRANTY - $57,000

Hello all, Just wanted to outline that Roadster 543 is still for sale. She just received her annual service, as well as a full inspection at Tesla Dallas & passed with flying colors. She is now more than ready for her new forever home. I am still asking $57,000. This is still the only known...

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 14,600 miles - WARRANTY - $57,000

Howdy... As it nears the delivery of my Model X, I'm hoping to speed up the sale of my gorgeous 2010 Roadster. Most important to note - the Power Electronics Module failed due to the previous generation dual fan setup on 2.0/2.5 cars, and was replaced in September 2017. The service center...

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 13,900 miles -NEW PEM with warranty - $63,000

It would need a few upgrades / retrofits from Tesla, but it can certainly be done!

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 13,900 miles -NEW PEM with warranty - $63,000

Hello all. I've been swamped with work and have not been 100% focused on keeping up with this. However, Roadster 543 is still available! I am dropping the price to $59,000. The brand new Power Electronics Module still has a transferable WARRANTY until September 2019. If anyone would like more...

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 13,900 miles -NEW PEM with warranty - $63,000

Tesla only accepts Roadsters on trade-in to give them away at auction. That being said, they offer about half of the current market value.

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 13,900 miles -NEW PEM with warranty - $63,000

Here's a few more photos. Thought some of you might like proof of the PEM's replacement, which is evident by the "remanufactured" tag and the serial number. PEMs are built in the Tesla factory in California and sent to service centers with that title. Original window sticker. Price is...

    Today's Roadster Orphan

    2010 Roadster 2.0 - Radiant Red - 13,900 miles -NEW PEM with warranty - $63,000

As much as it saddens me to do this, I am letting my beautiful Roadster go. After accepting a fantastic new job that requires a 60-mile commute each way, I've fallen for leasing a Model X with Autopilot. More importantly, when we sell the Roadster, we've decided to put in solar and a Powerwall...

    Title Skipping

In TX, this would not fly because the DMV requires either a title application or bill of sale along with the title. The title and the second doc must have matching names, signatures, dates, miles, etc. for them to accept the transfer. I would be shocked if CA doesn't have a similar requirement...

Long term Storage effects on battery

I feel as if I’ve read several times that range charging then letting a Roadster sit is discouraged. Can someone verify this?

Not sure what you are asking or if maybe this was not meant for the Roadster area... But just in case here's an attempt to answer. TOP0 shows the cloth top TOP1 shows body color top TOP2 shows carbon fiber Omitting "TOP" altogether yields an open air image If you really are messing with this...

    The Electric Blue Upgrade Thread

Every step of the way, I feel like 523 couldn't be sexier... and then the next mod totally blows me away. First the interior, then the hardtop, now the wraps. Dang brother, you do good work! Looking forward to mimicking a good bit of this soon :D

#241 Very Orange is now home with me

Congrats!!! I am so excited to see my 543's orphan brother adopted :D. They lived together for almost a year at Starwood haha.

    New ticking noise while charging...

That is indeed the single motor configuration "upgraded" fan. The original for my 2.0 #543 was two distinctly separate units. My impression is that all Roadsters originally came with the 2 unit configuration, but they could have produced some later VINs with the upgrade from the factory...

Forum split coming - Old & New Roadsters

Thank you TEG, I think that’s a great idea. First Generation, Second Generation or Gen 1, Gen 2 would make the most sense to me.

Need Help Roadster #1038 - Touch screen calibration failed, Call Service

Try cycling (opening and closing) the charge port door several times to reset the VDS. I don't know exactly what that does but I've seen it recommended before.

Ditto, I was hoping to do the whole interior CF kit eventually but that’s looking unlikely.

Interesting that they drove 58,000 miles without ever reporting anything to CarFax or AutoCheck. Not even a registration renewal since the first record in Feb 2011.

    Decoding of option codes

@DamienG Thoroughly enjoying this! Only thing I can think to potentially add if it wouldn't be too hard is a check box (like you did for sport or carbon) for the infotainment group on the interiors.

    Decoding of option codes

@DamienG, your configurator site is awesome! Thank you for sharing and most importantly thank you for including the Roadster!!!

    Today's Roadster Orphan

That was 100% a scam... a 2.5 sport simply won't go for literally anywhere near that, combined with all the sketchiness surrounding the listing. @DeedWest had an absolutely amazing reupholstery done to 523, check it out: The Electric Blue Upgrade Thread

    Parts to aquire...

I would be interested if there are any carbon fiber interior pieces. Also, I’m sure there is a market for the wheels if they are in good shape. What wheels are on it? Trying to think of what else... maybe the top and any wall connectors?

My Roadster at the new Tesla Gallery Fort Worth - Clearfork Grand Opening

Had an awesome time at the Grand Opening event at the new Fort Worth, TX gallery! The new gallery is easily 3 times the size of the one they moved from. The turnout for the event was great, and I had lots of fun conversations with both Tesla Employees and fellow owners. 0543 was the only...

    Introductory post and roadster questions

For determining your fan setup, on my 2.0 you can just look through the mesh of the rear bumper and see the fan/fans. The original was two separate units, one motor/fan setup to the right and one to the left of the space. The upgrade is a single motor turning two fans mounted on either side of...

    Approaches for cooling the motor?

I was under the impression that the fan upgrade only helped with PEM and motor cooling, while AC was only re-routed for battery cooling. Does the fan assist with battery temps and/or does AC assist with PEM/motor?
