    Raven 100% charge miles decreased

If you are taking "crying foul" as an insult then may I suggest it's you that needs to "Take a chill pill dude." I'm done here. Bye.
  2. K

    Raven 100% charge miles decreased

Ok where is the insult? Please tell me. I gave you some advice - up to you whether you take the advice or not. My point is the car hasn't changed, it's still got the same battery and charging system as the day you bought it. Batteries don't regrade that quickly so something else is happening.

    Raven 100% charge miles decreased

Let me understand this. There was an update (a software update). They didn't change your battery, or your drive units, just updated the software. Now after that update it's DISPLAYING less range and you're crying foul. All they are doing is displaying a different number - that doesn't impact...

    Jaguar I-Pace

Top Gear drove the I-pace from London to Lands end. 291 miles. Switched off a/c, drove slow , no hud, no heating, no lane assist. Think the real-world range is below 200 miles. TG's big Jaguar I-Pace test part 5: how far can it actually go?

Blog Tesla: Autopilot Was Activated During Fatal Model X Crash

I'd like to correct the title on the video. It was the driver that tried to kill the occupants. Autopilot is a driver aid and it's still beta. The driver is supposed to keep hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Why did it take the driver such a long time to see the car was taking the wrong...

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

Yes. Having driven that road (in Ireland) and lots in the U.S. I can't understand why they dont. Also if the lane split is on the fast side of the motorway (as in this accident) they add plastic posts for a good few hundred meters so that there is no last minute lane changes at high speed.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

yes. That was puzzling me - if it hit head on you would expect crushing but it's just be taken clear off. Any chance it hit side on (as in slide/skid?)

see below for a review and demo of the new mcu and firmware. Skip forward to 5:20 for the start of the review. Looks like the new rev X also has bluetooth antenna in the mirrors so you can walk up and unlock with the phone proximity (like the M3).

NHTSA sets 'Quiet Car' safety standard to protect pedestrians

When we moved from horse and carriage it was "mandated" that a man waving a red flag had to walk in front of very motor vehicle to protect pedestrians. Are we headed back to that? Stupid.

    Jaguar I-Pace

Model 3 uses permanent magnets. First Tesla to do so.
  15. K

    Jaguar I-Pace

it will be interesting to see some real world reviews. It's no Model X (in size etc) but it's great to see more mainstream manufacturers come out with a full EV. Jag know about quality but quality materials = more weight so will see how the range pans out. My big negative with it would be the...

How to lock up your private charger in a condo?

Get a short (foot long ish) chain and secure to the wall (bolts). Other end attach a combination/key lock with the ring big enough wrap the charging cable. This holds the cable to the wall which is good but stops people using it. Or even more simple - attach an eye bolt ( a ring) to the wall and...

    Impressive Cadillac CT6 Supercruise

yes. Spot on. I was driving my X on a motorway a couple of days ago where there are major road works. They "moved' the lanes about 12 metres left and re-lined the road. The X adjusted great but Supercruise would have croaked. When you drive on anything less than a motoroway , supercruise just...

    Impressive Cadillac CT6 Supercruise

Supercruise can only work on major highways and only in the US.Canada. How is that impressive? It relies on very accurate mapping so that it always going to limit it's usefulness. Move ahead 5 years where something like autopilot or other non mapping solutions get a lot better - you can use them...

Please Tesla - optional speed limiter

Right but there are so many roads where auto pilot can't be used (narrow country roads ) and sometimes it's nice to not have to worry about going over to limit. Not a big deal for me and there are many , many other features I'd like to see in the car first, but it was nice to have it on the Merc.
  20. K

Please Tesla - optional speed limiter

That's not what the OP is looking for. He wants a dynamic limit that he can set at any time. I've used it (on the Merc) when going through areas where there are many speed cameras - if the speed limit is 40 , you flick the lever and set the car to max out at say 45 , and even if you get...

My Merc E280 had this. Set the upper limit and put the foot down - it would never exceed it.

    Need tip with snow driving

As poster above said - Snow tires. You would be amazed how they will improve the grip. Just the fact that the rubber stays softer at lower temps gives you much better grip, never mind the groves (and studs). I drove a Model X on the Alps last winter on snow tires and it was terrific.

Tracking the new roadster - heat soak solved?

I've driven a 100D on the autobahn at 140+ and after about 10 mins it starts to complain about the heat. You then (usually) get a reduced power message. My point is - spinning a tranny with just one gear at these speeds does produce a lot of heat and that has to be dissipated somehow. Spinning...

Tracking the new roadster - heat soak solved?

Ok but even the S/X have heating problems with sustained high speed - you can't drive the X at 130mph+ for long, never mind 250. The heat buildup and the battery heat will still be major issues at these speeds and that's why I'm convinced there will be a gearbox to bring down the revs and the...

Tracking the new roadster - heat soak solved?

0-60 in 1.9 secs and top speed 250mph does not compute in an electric car.... unless it's got gears. This would in turn make for longer range, less heat and a sustained top end speed. Will be interesting to see what they bring out.

[Poll] - Are you buying the new roadster?

I've had the Cal T for 2 years and over 9K miles Drive it on the weekends from London to Dublin, wine country in France, Alps, Italy. It's a GT car but unless you just want to drive somewhere for the afternoon and back home again, then a GT car is what you need. Open top driving (the Roadster is...

[Poll] - Are you buying the new roadster?

Believe me it's not all about performance. My cal t does 0-60 in 3.4, top speed 195. Guess how many times I've hit those numbers? With normal weekend sporty driving you will not notice the difference between 3.4 and 1.9 and if you dare touch the top speed you'll quickly lose your licence and...

[Poll] - Are you buying the new roadster?

On pure specs it might beat any other car but what about the quality, the materials and everything else that these top of the line supercars bring? Tesla is not in the same league as any of these in terms of the quality and feel of the cars. 200K is cheap for this performance but 0-60 time is...

[Poll] - Are you buying the new roadster?

Nope. Model X = daily driver and my play car = Ferrari Portofini (replacement for my Cal T). Somehow I don't get the electric sports car thing.

    Supercharger - Birdhill, Ireland

They need one on the M6 (midlands) and one in Dublin. I was going to take the MX from London to Galway and it can't (easily) be done on superchargers. Have to drop down to 22kw or 11kw (!) Ecars charging. Took the Petrol car instead :-(

Did you ask Tesla? - I have names/emails/phones of a couple of "sales" people in the service centre in the dublin. kevin

Engine Fails During Testing at McGregor

My understanding is that the leak wasn't in the engine but on the test equipment. Could be incorrect but if I'm right then the issue has nothing to do with the engine and should be an easy fix. Seems to also tie in with SpaceX's claim that this will not impact any schedules. Guess we'll find...

Engine Fails During Testing at McGregor

So the update is that this wasn't a problem with the engine at all (wasn't running). It was a leak in the test set up that allowed LOX to come in contact with a fuel (grease, oil etc). They now just have to find the cause of the fault with the test setup and go again. No changes/mods needed for...

Engine Fails During Testing at McGregor

Engine wasn't running at the time. They flow LOX through the engine to check for leaks and it was during the leak test that an "anomaly" happened. Sounds like the LOX ignited.

Have to disagree with you on that. I like it on Park. My previous car it was tied to opening the door - so you want to get out, you pull the handle and then wait until it moves the wheel, the seat ,and whatever else, and then step out. At least with Park you push the button, it starts doing it's...

It works. Used a Tesla wall charger to charge the smart car today.

Here in Europe there are lots of places with Chaedemo BUT the difference is that you pay to use them. You sign up online, add your cc, get your card or fob and off you go. But it costs you. Tesla can recoup some of the costs of running it's charging network through its vehicle sales, but if...

    Safety concerns

I think stealing is going to be limited. Can't imagine a thief having to stop at a supercharger for 40 mins after he stole your lovely S! They are not that sophisticated. I used to leave my Ferrari on the street (Saint Johns Wood) without any problems but have heard of Range Rovers and so...

    My prediction on Model 3/Tesla

Ok I'll add my 2 cents. Tesla bankrupt in a year? not a chance. If Tesla was a "regular" car company then yes, it would be a possibility. But Tesla is now more than that - they are a solar business (growing and will be huge in the next 5/10/15 years) and power storage (still in it's infancy...

Interesting. Another option is that the display on the dash showing the upcoming curve is behind (delayed) what the cameras are actually seeing? The camera "sees" a lot quicker/further than you think and starts to take action before you see it on the dash. Could also be a combination of this and...
