Have the Model 3.. currently looking at cabins in the mountains where we regularly go. I would opt for the longest range you can get, whether its RWD or AWD. The max distance I'm looking at is somewhere I could comfortable get to and back from on a single charge in the worst weather.

Slightly over optimistic on my part. Its probably more accurate to say that in 2020 there will be a dozen non-Teslas. Some of those like the upgraded Kia Soul should be available this year. I know a few people who were 1st day reservation holders for a Model 3 and now ended up with a Kona.

It will happen, but not particularly soon. Until it was announced that the S is getting 370 mi range, no one expected it. The S is the flagship and the new Roadster is the halo car. I could see a Model S with a 400 mile range in a few years, but I don't expect it on the 3 until a major revision.

So instead of the RWD that I originally ordered and the AWD that I changed the order to.. I ended up picking up AWD Performance on Sat and am quite happy. The speed is insane, the power is insane.. and the value isn't bad either.

Defiant 2.0 The original Defiant met its untimely end when it was hit and totalled by a (likely) drunk driver.

It was the stealth performance with none of those upgrades or track mode. The AWD is already faster than anything I've ever owned and 1.2 seconds faster to 60 than the RWD I got a year ago. Its a 2k difference. Honestly if the LR RWD was on the lot, I would have taken that today.

So its all in the software. I said I really didn't need the performance acceleration that 4.4 was enough. They downgraded it to standard AWD and replaced the badge. Picking up within 24 hrs.

I had 27k VIN and the seats were great. I'd probably avoid any vin under 10k though if you want to make a cutoff.

Its not a matter of hiding it. You give the insurance co the vin and it is whatever it comes up as.

He may be BSing.. but he did say its the performance inverter that is physically different than the regular one has been in the past. Now I don't know if in the future it will be just a software upgrade, but probably not for all awd produced.

So a bit more info. My sales adviser promised that the car is not software limited to 145 and that it is physically different than AWD (at least past ones). It will need sport wheels (tesla or otherwise) to actually reach past 145, but it has the same top speed.

So just got an insurance quote and apparently they have no LR RWD in their database. For 2019 Model 3 they only have AWD.

So here are the official specs. So you need the 20" wheels to hit top speed and you need the aero wheels to hit the range.

For anyone that has ordered or picked up one of these, can you confirm what the top speed should be?
