We ordered a MYP Black with black interior on 4/10 with an initial EDD of June 12 - July 10. This week it was pushed to “July - Sept 2022”!

No more radar means the car cannot see through fog?

This is one of the most comprehensive articles about the challenges of autonomous driving I’ve come across. While it does go into detail about the advantages of radar, the fundamental issue is measuring distance and interpreting the input images. Why LiDAR is Doomed

Cruise control - a mind of it's own. Anyone else have this experience?

Unfortunately this is the consequence of the lag time between road construction and map updates. Maps/GPS thinks the car on a feeder/side street with a lower speed limit. Because new highways are typically much straighter than the old road it can cause the system to jump back and forth between...

    Quietest 21" tires

They're direct with the Tesla OEM tires. I used them as my summer set up on my 2017 75D then I traded to a 2020 LR+. The car with 19" Eagle Touring (foam filled) is a silent dream but the 21" Michelins are so loud I only had them on my new car for a week and went back to the 19s. I may try...

    Quietest 21" tires

I love the way the 21" arachnids look on my car but I took them off after a week because the road noise with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports is unbearable. I'm willing to sacrifice grip/performance for better acoustics. Any suggestions on a quieter tire? A last resort would be to sell them...

    Model S Slid Away...

From the video it definitely looks like the car was sliding as opposed to rolling since the tire tracks are solid black (no tread marks). They should be able to pull logs to verify this. If that’s the case the car didn’t fail… it was in park with the wheels locked. Without more info on...

2021 MS LR+ rattling sound upon hard acceleration

My 2020 LR+ with 12k miles sounds exactly like that. I don’t drive it hard at all but it was a test drive car when I bought it with 1200 miles so it was most likely driven harder in the beginning. I have a service appt in a couple weeks so we’ll see how it gets addressed.

Should I buy a Plaid Model S or a Triple Motor CyberTruck?

Do you commonly ask complete strangers to make major decisions with no context? Let me try... I’m about to remodel my kitchen. Should I have the cabinets painted white or gray? Hopefully you can see that without the rest of the design concept it’s impossible to answer. On the other hand...

    upgraded rims?

You can typically get a better price from an inventory car than from a custom order. Because Tesla wheels are extremely expensive I recommend buying the stock 19” with all season tires. If you want bigger rims with high performance tires get aftermarket.

    Gear selector stalk rattles

Mine too... drives me crazy! Mine started rattling after the steering wheel was taken apart to fix the voice activation button so I need to have them fix it.

"not trying to be super profitable"

I think you're misunderstanding the intent. He's saying that rather than posting a large net margin (and paying huge taxes), the company is taking almost all their profits and reinvesting that money back into the company in the form of new factories, upgrading existing infrastructure, R&D, etc...

Killing the brand with poor service

I'm always floored when people think this is a surprise. TESLA IS A BABY compared to the other auto companies that have been doing this for 100 years. They are also the only manufacturer who direct sells and services their cars... all the other companies have 3rd party dealerships to take on...

2020.28.5 gets +5mph with traffic light

Just got this update last night and was so happy. That's the biggest reason I had the feature turned off and I bet they saw usage plummet and had to add it back in to have enough cars help train the neural net.

Tesla’s Real Range Anxiety: The YTOD

Let me start by saying I'm also in the blistering Texas heat. I'm trying to wrap my head around the insistence that it be kept inside or a cover be put on it. Do you only drive it to places it can be parked indoors or out of the sun... of course not. If your destination requires it be parked...

FSD NOW 8k for all models

Tesla screwed themselves with terminology. If they never assigned the term “FSD” no one would have this mental issue, or severe backlash in many cases, with the idea of this purchase. Imagine if they just had the “basic package” as standard and what they’re asking $8k was just called the...

2020.20.12 Unlocked additional range up to a "long range plus"

Very possible. He needs to check the sticker on the inside of the driver door frame to be sure. In any case obsessing over 5 miles of range is ridiculous because actual range has much more to do with driving style and speed.

    Full self drive... Maybe

Going to purchase "new" 100D 2018 non-raven. Is this a mistake?

I owned a 2017 MS and upgraded to a 2020 a couple months ago. I can tell you without a doubt it's worth going with the raven. It's not just the ride quality and the range to consider. - The newest generation seats are a massive comfort upgrade - The 3.0 computer makes the autopilot...

2020.20.12 Unlocked additional range up to a "long range plus"

2020.20.12 Unlocked additional range up to a "long range plus"

I got the 2020.24.6.1 FW last night and now a 100% charge shows another 11 miles to 404. The release notes indicate "Your car will now display a slightly higher range to more accurately reflect the capacity of the battery."

2020.20.12 Unlocked additional range up to a "long range plus"

Has anyone been able to "fix" this bug with a BT connection - car drops the volume on my cell phone

Maybe I’m not understanding the OP problem but this happens all the time on my iPhone; however, BT volume is now independent of phone volume so it’s easily ignored. The volume on my phone can be at zero or at max and it doesn’t affect the BT volume from the stereo so it’s more of a visual...

Has anyone upgraded their S to a new one?

I had a 2017 75D and traded up for a 2020 100D this week. I keep telling everyone it’s like an entirely different car. They packed what would normally be decade worth of upgrades into 3 years. Here’s the list of things upgraded in my case: 370 miles of range Vs 258 Hardware 3.0 computer vs...

2020 MS New Front Seat review

I had a 2017 MS with genuine leather for the last 3 years and traded it in for a 2020 MS yesterday. Everything is subject to one’s personal tastes but I find the vegan leather seats to be significantly more comfortable. The padding is softer and has more give. The headrests aren’t adjustable...

Diminished value claim -- any successes?

I'm currently trying to negotiate diminished value for a rear quarter panel replacement which ended up being just over $14k in repairs. I hired Direct Appraisal to furnish a report and they came up with $11,800 which I submitted to Farmers. They countered at $6,000 referencing NADA auction...

    Scheduled Charging/Departure fail

Scheduled departure always fails for me but setting the time charging is to start works. My home charges at a rate of 29m/hr so I just do a quick calculation as to when it needs to start.

Regenerative breaking stuck on low after the last SW update

Anyone want to try opening their mind to a different perspective? It's possible the change was for battery health and reduction in degradation over time. Change doesn't have to be synonymous with something being broken. While Tesla is still a relatively young company it doesn't change things...

Boosted SUC rate CONFIRMED on 2018 S75D w/ ver 2019.12.1

After low ball offers by Carmax and Tesla, sold it myself - Huge Difference!

I was just offered $41k from Tesla and $38k from CarMax for my 2017 75D with 40k miles. Looks like I'll have to sell it myself if I want to upgrade. Based on my research fair trade value for the car is ~$55k and market value is ~$65k. I read the Model S had the highest relsale value of any...

WARNING: Liberty Mutual, Tesla's "partner," is terrible, denied part of my claim

I just had my quarter panel replaced and there is only one certified Tesla shop in Austin so they basically get to name their price. The rates you paid are cheap by comparison. It was just over $15k total when it was all said and done... luckily the guy who hit me had Farmers which didn’t...

Powerwall 2 with inverter vs external inverter

Correct... the grid doesn't care. From what I remember... it's been almost 4 months since our consult...each Powerwall has a maximum dishcharge rate and if that rate is exceeded it will trip the system off. Charging our Tesla plus the average household usage exceeds the maximum discharge rate...

Powerwall 2 with inverter vs external inverter
