Refresh Model X 3% Range Loss First 4,000 miles

I received my refresh Model X in December of 2022. At 80% charge, the car normally shows 277 miles of range. 4,000 miles later, it's now showing 266 miles. My 2017 Model S went a whole year before before any range loss was experienced. I have only used Superchargers for my one road trip to...

High Pitch Whine Under Heavy Acceleration - Refreshed Model X

I took delivery of my 2023 Model X in December. My other car is a 2017 Model S so I'm very familiar with how these cars operate. From day one, I noticed a high pitch whine coming from the front passenger side under moderate to heavy acceleration. It almost sounds like it's coming from the...

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

I also forgot to mention that the MCU2 upgrade includes the replacement of the binnacle display as well as the center console display. They didn't say why it needed to be replaced but I suspect the connectors are different so they can't reuse what's already intalled.

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

I suspected as much but it didn't really impact me too greatly. The only thing that was holding me back from the upgrade to MCU2 was the fact that I would lose AM and FM. In the end, having the extra features and snappier interface outweighed the inconvenience of using Internet radio on my...

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

I don't have to time to read through the entire thread so I apologize in advance if any of my comments have already been discussed. However, I wanted to share my experience in my quest to upgrade from HW2 to HW3. A couple of weeks ago, I called Tesla to inquire about the upgrade. They told...

Supercharger - San Jose, CA - Cherry Avenue (LIVE 21 Dec 2018, 24 Urban stalls)

I was visiting family in the area and decided to drop by the site to check it out. It was a pretty impressive sight to see 24 Urban Chargers all lined up in a row. At around 9:30 PM last night, there were only two cars charging. However, despite the parking lot being completely empty and the...

Electrify America charging station - Livermore CA

For the Electrify America chargers, why would they have dual handles but have only one stall to provide a charge to? Maybe for redundancy? The combo chargers make sense but if the others are dual CCS then it would seem strange.

    Software Update 2018.42.x

I received the 2018.42.2 update this morning and went for a test drive. My general feeling is that the car feels unpredictable with Navigate on Autopilot engaged. There will definitely be a period of adjust needed for me to predict the car's behavior in certain traffic situations. Here are...

Supercharger - Milpitas, CA (LIVE 15 Nov 2018, 16 stalls)

It's interesting that Tesla and the hotel decided to install the chargers right up against the building as opposed to the back of the parking lot. I've always felt that there's a greater chance for ICE'ing to occur with this type of configuration. The fact that hotel patrons are most likely...

Supercharger - San Jose, CA - Coleman Ave (LIVE 31 Aug 2018, 12 stalls)

I didn't mean literally every supercharger site but my point is that many of the more recent builds include Level 2 chargers. Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, San Jose, and Fremont Hub all have Level 2 built next to the Superchargers. I'm guessing that Target must be piggybacking on this effort because...

Supercharger - San Jose, CA - Coleman Ave (LIVE 31 Aug 2018, 12 stalls)

I noticed that every Supercharger site is being built with a couple of Level 2 chargers. Who owns these chargers? Tesla? Target? My understanding is that Chargepoint just sells the hardware and managed billing service but part of the revenue goes to the owner that bought it.

Supercharger - Los Gatos (expanded Jun 2021, 20 Urban stalls)

I drove by this location on Saturday because I happened to be in the area. Unfortunately, I forgot to look for a transformer as I was looking at the charging units only. It appears that one of the chargers is missing a front cover. Not sure if that was from before as previously discussed or...

Supercharger - Tejon Ranch, CA (expanded to 24 V2 stalls)

Thanks for the photos. Unless that is your Range Rover parked in the shaded stall, it looks like ICEing is going to be unavoidable.

    Software Update 2018.20 ad59ff9

I’ve been dealing with this for a while now. iPhone X paired with Apple Watch and Tesla causes garbled audio. It’s a pain, but now I turn off Bluetooth on my watch while I make calls and it sounds great.

    Firmware Update 2018.12

Finally received the 2018.12 update today and installed it. Obviously I don't have the maps yet so I will have to wait for it to activate or download. With regards to MCU performance, there seems to be some improvement. Unfortunately, I didn't take any baseline time measurements before the...

    Improved Energy Consumption After 2018.10.4?

I live in the Bay Area. It could be the weather but I don’t remember getting similar consumption during the fall months.

    Software Update 2018.10.4

In general, overall AP performance has been improved with this update. After driving for a few weeks after the update, I noticed that AP doesn't handle tight turns as well as the previous software version. There's also a tendency for AP to center itself in a lane that grows wider. This is...

    Improved Energy Consumption After 2018.10.4?

I might be imagining things but my car seems to be consuming energy more efficiently after the 2018.10.4 update? My lifetime consumption was 309 W/mi and has been steadily dropping. Last weekend, I drove about 150 miles at 70 mph, 2 adults, 2 kids, with the heater on in 60 degree weather. At...

    Supercharger - Cupertino, CA (LIVE 28 Mar 2018, 10 V2 stalls)

Cupertino has a pretty nice online permit tracker site (Cupertino Building Permits). You can find the status of all the building permits in Cupertino by navigating the city map and selecting the pin on map that represents the permit at that location. The description of the permit does not...

    Software Update 2018.10.4

I'm following up regarding the sudden braking I experienced yesterday. This morning I drove over the same crest and made sure there wasn't a car in front of me. AP2 handled this scenario flawlessly. Looks like there are some edge cases that still need to be addressed but overall a great...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

According to the final inspection comments, they were fixed. I didn't actually visit the site when it was a problem so I was not able to compare before and after.

    Software Update 2018.10.4

Installed the 2018.10.4 update last night and just tested AP2 on Central Expressway in Sunnyvale. While heading south, there are two crests that cross over Wolf Road and Lawrence Expressway. Both crests are fairly high and the change in elevation is about 5 - 10 feet. Prior to the update, the...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I stopped by the Target Supercharger station last night to see what was and wasn't working. There are two chargers that are taped off and the signage on the chargers are dark. The other 6 units appear to be in operation. There was a Model X charging when I got there but the owner was not...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I live in Sunnyvale and it seems like every other car in my neighborhood is a Tesla. I'm really not that surprised that it's full already. Hopefully it's just the novelty of having a new station that's driving up the demand. Only time will tell.

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

This is really great news! I just looked at the status and there are already 6 people charging there. The Cupertino Supercharger should be opening soon too (already under construction). Between Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino I hope that the congestion will be a bit less. I charge at...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

The original permit passed the final inspection and the status shows as "finaled". I'm guessing that a new permit will need to be filed to make the changes to the electrical components. If this is true, then a permit application has not been filed yet according to Sunnyvale's web site. It's...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

Just checked the latest inspection updates and it appears that the final inspection has been scheduled for March 2. If the inspection passes, it will be interesting to see how quickly Telsa will make the site available for charging.

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I didn’t say Tesla was was doing the work. It’s obvious that they are using contractors as Tesla is not in the construction business. However, they have a construction team that manages these contractors and ultimately have oversight over these projects. While I understand that each...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I was able to pull the inspection results from Sunnyvale's website. Looks like the city failed the final inspection due to signage issues and incorrect wheel chair parking stall markings. Good grief. You think Tesla would have this process down by now. Here's the link to the report if you...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

Drove by this morning and saw that the green box has been installed on the pad. Didn't see any trucks and there is still tape on the charging stations. There's also a lot of trench work in the street that is adjacent to this box. I hope that the green box is for the chargers and not related...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I called the City of Sunnyvale's inspections office today and asked for the latest update regarding the Supercharger build at the Target site. According to their records, the last inspection was performed on November 15th and the permit was issued on that same day. At this point, the city is...
