Wheel Powder Coating in Ottawa, ON

@iKhalid Did you have to unmount the tires from the rims, or did they do that for you? I currently have tires mounted on my summer set, and don’t want to have to take them somewhere else afterwards to get them remounted, balanced and TPMS reinstalled.

    Tire change in Ottawa

I’ve heard horror stories of people having their cars jacked incorrectly and severely damaging the batteries, and as such I’m a little hesitant to get my tires changed by anyone other than Tesla. I called the service center in Montreal and they’re trying to deflect tire changes away because...

    Dashcam users in Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal?

The post that you’re quoting was replying to was in response to someone suggesting that I get the Power Magic Battery bundle, which is plugged into the cigarette lighter (see screenshot from the Blackvue website). I was responding saying that I didn’t want to do that, but instead hardwire it...

Being forced to sell our two Teslas- Moving from Michigan to Ontario- PLEA FOR HELP!

You’re comparing two very different things. First off, there are a lot more people moving back and forth with their vehicles between the US and Canada than there are between continents. I have several military friends who have been posted in Europe, and all of them were given a stipend to...

Being forced to sell our two Teslas- Moving from Michigan to Ontario- PLEA FOR HELP!

You’re being pretty unreasonable here @jkirkwood001. The root of the issue here isn’t that Tesla isn’t making all of their cars compliant in all countries out of the factory. Unless I missed something, I don’t think the OP ever suggested that we all pay a premium on our cars so that they can all...

    Software Update 2018.10.4

If there’s good LTE signal there then try tethering it to your phone when you can (eg: on your drive to work, while parked if you can leave your phone/spare cellular device like an iPad etc in the car). That may be enough to trigger the update to push.

Tesla (Model S & X) no longer eligible for Ontario rebate?

Yes the exact wording is “EVs ordered prior to March 9, 2018”. So I think if you placed your $2500 deposit on a specific vehicle before today and you take delivery and file paperwork before September 7th you should be good to go.

Tesla (Model S & X) no longer eligible for Ontario rebate?

Unfortunately that isn’t the case. The old program ended today and you are only eligible for it if all of the following are true: - you purchased your car before today - it is delivered before Sept 7, 2018 - you file all of the necessary incentive program paperwork before Sept 7, 2018

Tesla Puddle Lights on Amazon Canada

I'm glad your installation went well. I bought the ones that you linked to above (TeslaHome). They arrived today and appeared to be new, although one had a broken pin, and on the other I couldn't get the pins to slide into the standard Tesla connectors. I was obviously pretty disappointed. I...

Update failed 3 out of last 4 updates

I had the same problem with my Oct 2017 S100. Had to take it to the service center to have them install the firmware. They said there was a glitch with this software affecting some cars during the OTA update (they had to transfer the update onto my car by hardwiring it into their computer...

    Vendor New Cubby Drawer

I bought one as well (with the grey lining). Got it this week. Looks phenomenal. I had Norm send me both handles so I could see which I prefer more in person (cost an extra $10). I definitely like the new style handle more. It has a bit of a grippy feel to it which is nice. The drawer fits...

    220 outlet installation in garage

I got mine done by one of the Tesla-recommended electricians in Ottawa. Cost was about $750 to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage. They didn’t have to run the wires as far as you will have to however. I’d expect to pay somewhere between $750 and $1250 for the work you need done.

    25,000 mile service worth it?

Whether or not you get the annual maintenance had no effect on your new car warranty. That said, if your new car warranty has expired and you are currently covered by an extended service plan then it becomes less clear (they say your ESP coverage “may be affected” if you choose not to get the...

    Failed 2018.6.1 update

Mine failed twice. Got the second try about 4-5 days after the initial failure. Had it in the service center this week for an unrelated reason and had them look into the logs for the firmware. NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

Yep, you are still eligible for the rebate for 50% of the cost of the HPWC if you install it yourself. You will however still have to get an ESA inspection and provide the certificate to the Ontario Government to quality for the rebate (although they will also reimburse you for 50% of the...

    Ontario EVIP rebates update

They are definitely getting a lot faster. I submitted my EVIP application by email on Jan 17, 2018, and they transferred the funds into my account just over a month later (Feb 21, 2018). Kind of weird though: they didn't send me an email confirming that my application had been approved, so it...

    White paint regrets?

I absolutely agree. I’ve got the pearl white multicoat paint and I think it is the best looking factory paint job that you can get on the Model S today. It gets dirty driving through a Canadian winter, but so do all of the others. Silver might hide it a little better...but then you have to drive...

    Dashcam users in Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal?

Would you mind posting some pictures of how it looks after the installation? On their website it looks like they charge $100 CAD for 2CH installation or $60 CAD for a 1CH cam. Is that what they charged you @setipoo?

    Dashcam users in Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal?

I want it completely integrated and hidden away. I don't want the Power Magic Battery Pack plugged into my cigarette lighter. I don't want to be the one cutting the wires on the BlackVue and getting it wired into the 12V battery though. So thats why I'm looking for recommendations for a...

    Dashcam users in Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal?

I’m looking to purchase a 2CH dashcam for my Model S (most likely the BlackVue 750 as suggested by many users on the forum). That said, I’m a little hesitant to install it myself. I live in Ottawa, but would be willing to travel a little bit to have it installed. Does anyone in the region have...

    NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

Ah gotcha. You’re right, I could have done that for about the same price (after the rebate) as what I ended up doing (since I bought another UMC anyway). A major factor for me was that I know I’m moving to a different place in less than 6 months, and this way I get to take both UMCs with me...

    NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

Your math doesn’t check out This is what you’re suggesting I should have done: - Upgrade service and panel to 200A so I can support a HPWC (quoted between $3500 and $4000 by three separate electricians) -> $3500 (minimum) - $500 rebate (Ontario government will rebate up to $500 for...

    NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing that (I definitely won’t be in my house anyway). Tesla only recommends charging at 40A (even when on a 50A breaker). Only 32A of that can actually be delivered to your car because of the 80% rule (which is imposed on all continuous loads for safety...

    NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

Sure I could have, but the question is why would I do that? I have the high amperage charger in my car, so had I paid to install a HPWC I would charge at 72A to max out my charging speed. Like I said in my post, the reason I went for the NEMA 14-50 (which maxes out at 32A available for...

    NEMA 14-50 Installation in Canada

I ended up going with a NEMA 14-50 instead of the HPWC because even with the 50% rebate from the Ontario EV Charging incentive it would have cost me way more money (would have needed to upgrade service and panel to 200A). The 32A charging on the 14-50 is more than enough for my daily needs...

    Electrician recommendations - Ottawa

I had my NEMA 14-50 installed by Watson Electrical for about $775 (including inspection and HST). They weren’t the cheapest of the quotes I got, but I’m 100% happy I went with them. They’ve done lots of Tesla installations, were super professional, left the place super clean. No issues...

To be fair the app still works for people with earlier firmware versions (it’s not like the new version of the app broke functionality for everyone other than those on 2018.4). The new version of the app was released now to make sure that any of those people lucky enough to be on the early...

This is not a rant , this is a friendly note to future Norwegian Tesla owners.

This is not a rant , this is a friendly note to future Norwegian Tesla owners.

I agree that there are a lot of basic things that could be updated/fixed with the MCU. As the others pointed out, this mode does exist. It’s called Chill mode, and it is not “cryptic” or “hidden”. It is well documented in the owners manual, discussed all over the place online (including on tons of threads in this forum) and is very easy to find in the Controls app in the car...

This is my first firmware update as a Tesla owner. Seems to be a relatively high number of us experiencing install failures (@PatrickCH4313 @kholy @BrainCandy @toolioiep @moonraker9 @Electric_Zen @S75D ...). Is this something that frequently happens, or is this just a bad release?

    Model S/X Computer

Musk has said publicly that it is easy to replace the onboard computer. As @SeminoleFSU points out however, whether or not they would choose to do this (instead of encouraging you to buy the newest and shiniest new Tesla) isn’t so clear cut. Tesla could upgrade customer computers to meet...

Battery Preheat - Does it ever work?

There’s a big active thread where someone did the math on how long you have to preheat your cabin for before getting back to 100% regen.
