Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Maybe this can cheer you folks up. Since your investment research isn't as robust as TSLAQ I'll provide you with my latest report fwiw.. *not investment advice* TOM Collins on Twitter

Before you purchase a Tesla...know this.

Curious? How is your response supposed to make people not as fortunate as you feel?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Here's two points he made. 1)When you produce more than you sell plus more than you have orders for that's a demand problem. 2)When your sales &customer service is bad that devalues the brand.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So is not having a garage irrelevant to a meaningful number of potential buyers? Seems to me getting out at night in the rain or freezing cold to plug into a charger would be a pita. My point is only that the addressable market is smaller if the supercharger network is not easily accessible...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Some statistics regarding homes that don't have garages. How many of these folks do you think are going to be charging at home? Here is one of those "first principles" that should have been used in determining the size of the addressable market I think. Any idea how many people won't buy a...

Munro Teardown Shows Model 3 Profitable With 30%+ Margins

So everyone understands those are estimated "gross" margins. Lots of costs incurred after that point. Hence no 35k car for quite sometime.

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

COGS I believe, add $6,330 in operating costs at 500,000 M3 plus 100,000 S/X, That assume no increase from 2017 which off course can't be the case with interest expense ballooning. So that gets you about break-even assuming those volumes can be met. In other words he just told everyone even at...

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

So here is a little math I think is relevant and am happy to share. Say person "A" shorts TSLA at $300 at a margin requirement of approximately $10k per hundred shares, "A" sells 1,000 shs. At $260 "A" decides to close out and is a buyer. His profit is $400,000. Profit on his $100k margin is...

The "Is Tesla Going Bankrupt?" thread

Dude, this is a "math free" forum when it comes to financials. Now if you want to extrapolate future sales demand in units herein are the wizards. key words; exponential, disruptive, s-curve and "Elon said"

    A) Trading a stock does nothing for the company post IPO and buying a car for less than it cost to produce doesn't either. RE: financial numbers B) Me and Moody's apparently. Unless you are want to abet the decisions of others who take your booster-ism to heart you may may to may want to go...

I can't explain why I bothered to comment, forgive me. I read all kinds of sources on topics that interest me. I watch a little FOX news for the same reason. To understand other perspectives. I apologize for disturbing the vibe here, it's all good, I forgot Elon said 20% gross margins. I got...

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

Seriously? Unless they were to liquidate and get 100% of the dollar value of assets that is meaningless. Unless those assets can generate net income to cover the liabilities and interest on those liabilities what value do they have. In 2017 adding those assets generated $2 billion in negative...

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

This seems to be the prevalent sentiment here. Little attention is paid to the fact that there is a need to produce those products in an economically sound way. Here is a dose of reality. $17 billion in two years added liabilities to get to the end of 2017 and what to show for it? $2.5...

1st week with Tesla 3, quality control issues

Whaaaat! " take advantage of new mechanics" to finish manufacturing a $100K vehicle? opportunity to train? I seriously hope you are not correct about this. The focus is on " the machine that makes the machine" IIRC

    Cancelling my reservation

This is the best analysis about the delayed 35k car. Tesla marketing should have focused grouped it. IKnow the financial reasoning now but there were plenty in the industry who questioned that price point at the time who apparently were correct.

Manufacturing Issues on my Model 3

Shooting the messenger is an art form here. I no longer have a dog in this fight but check in occasionally because of an interest in human psychology. What's the opposite of troll? "Shill" perhaps. You may need 15,000 posts to be believed here. I know of others with the concern of the roof...

    Exit Experience?

Painless, so far. Not sure how long to wait for check but I really don't care if I get back or not. I'm an accountant and reading that balance sheet last week gave me the willies. Really didn't care to chance a 50k car needing service while the company goes through a re-org in the next year or...

    Cancelling my reservation

I'm considering cancelling and was interested in what others thought. What I find unpleasant is when someone has given very rationale reasons to cancel there comes a posse to question, judge and belittle that person. The apologists for Elon strike their virtuous pose and we the great unwashed...

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

What should we take from the conference call, and more importantly, the financial statements that would justify Tesla being worth more than Ford today? If Tesla was on the plan as understood over the past two years the value would be based on the future. Given that they are nowhere near that...

    Cancelling my reservation

This thread will be useless as far as judging cancellations since to announce it just brings out the apologists to question ones motives and then give unsolicited advice. Who needs that?

    Jon McNeill to depart Tesla

Well at least he got that "golden handcuff" faux bonus to not leave back in september. $700,000 that late in the year was such a tell that he wanted gone. Not sure the optics are any better now, but everyone has their limits.

    2018 Tesla Model 3 Production: 80,000 or 264,000?

True this! The pretense that these have been "production" cars is a joke. Not sure I want to drive around on top of a battery put together with all the precision a temp worker can achieve :(

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

Man you guys are "see the glass half full " types. According to the article Solar City had already tried this approach, without success. Plus the rationale for bailing SC out was the cross selling in Tesla stores. Not hearing too much buzz about how great that plan has worked out over a...

WTF! 1875 with over 800 in transit at 12/31. 1000 units produced and delivered in Jan? 860 Model 3 vehicles were in transit to customers at the end of the quarter. These will be counted as deliveries in Q1 2018.

I will volunteer this. If you can not explain those elements of a financial statement you are not investing on fundamentals. That's ok, just admit it and don't throw terms around that can be misconstrued. Cheers

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I've enjoyed the back and forth and you have made some excellent customer relations points. I'm not an engineer but rather have spent decades dealing with people, so often I have to make judgments on things for which I may not have access to all the facts. In this case I ask myself whether it...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Late last year, the CTO of Mobileye, which supplied a crucial component in Tesla’s Autopilot self-driving technology, said that the two companies had parted ways in part because Telsa was “pushing the envelope” in terms of safety."

From reddit . The following was posted today (10 Jan) on TMC here. Well I've had my S for over 2yrs now. I was picking it up from service. But better late than never, right? Anyway, I talked to a couple of people regarding the Alcantara issue. One person explained to me that they had a supplier...

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

I've followed most of this discussion and am struck that no one seems concerned that apparently after just 2000 vehicles a supplier "stopped talking to us" per a Tesla employee. When you commit suppliers to meeting a projected run rate and then drastically change/reduce that rate a couple of...
