Official Thread: Cybertruck (Cybrtrk) Event - Nov 21, 2019

I do not know this as fact but I have heard that the flat panel styling was dictated by low ductility of the metal skin. If that is true, the skin may crack or shatter when deformed in a collision. Tesla seems committed to safety so I feel confident the truck will perform well in a crash.

Show some respect, the Aztec was not THAT bad - merely awful.

Warning, rebooting v10 on MCU1 while driving

I rebooted my Model 3 while driving about two weeks after I got it in late 2018. I did not realize there are two levels of reboot - wheel buttons only and wheel buttons with brake pedal depressed. Since I was driving, I may have had the brake pedal depressed when I attempted the reset. That...

Phantom braking is the biggest issue with AutoPilot.

Yesterday, I drove six hundred miles from Atlanta, GA to Naples, nearly all on I-75. I did not experience phantom braking, probably because there were no trees close enough to the road to cast shadows. However, I did find the car is incapable of executing an auto lane change when the lane marker...

I live in a condo. The main breaker is only 70A. Now what? [Resolved]

I live in a condo with a communal 32 amp, 240 volt charger and have no problems. It takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to add 10% charge to my M3 dual motor LR. I charge to 85% and recharge at 60%. I use the car daily in heavy traffic and charge every two days on average. If I had a...

    First Model 3 Battery Teardown!

One reason I want a Model 3 is because of that battery. However, I wonder if it can be produced profitably. There may be a reason other manufacturers have less sophisticated designs. The I-Pace cooling loop is between the battery floor pan and the cells. It looks like it is easily positioned...

Will AWD cost extra ? If so how much do you expect it to be ?

In his initial overview of Model 3, Sandy Munro of Munro and Associates noted the chassis on the rear drive model is designed to accommodate the front motor.

Model 3 (Maintenance Plan & Costs) HELP!!

Does anyone know why Tesla requires periodic changes of the A/C desiccant? I have never had to do this with any car I have owned. When a system is new or has been opened for service, it is placed under vacuum for a period of time to remove moisture before the refrigerant is introduced. This...

Model 3 (Maintenance Plan & Costs) HELP!!

MP3Mike, could you provide more details on the coolant circuit(s)? I read that the M3 does not have a battery heater but uses the drive motor controls to run the motor less efficiently thereby producing more heat when needed.

    Traction on hard acceleration

I did not read the response from Krash before posting mine. He is far better informed and I appreciate him sharing his knowledge.

    Traction on hard acceleration

I found two YouTube videos of Model 3 dynamometer tests. One yielded almost 400 HP which I do not believe is accurate. The other yielded 281 HP at the wheels and 552 ft. lb. torque. Testing required disabling the front wheel speed sensor(s). I suspect Tesla uses wheel speed data to determine if...

    Model 3 fuse box location

I am not sure this is correct but I think I have read that Model 3 does not have fuses. That sounds wrong but I read several years ago that auto suppliers were working on intelligent power distribution to reduce wiring in cars. Model 3 uses half the wire used in Model S and Model Y will use half...
