Tesla automatically notified of Supercharger faults

Haha! No I didn’t :D good catch. Everyone is pulling their weight these days... But yeah I agree, they can’t possibly know of every single fault. And for the ones they do, they don’t always act with haste...

Tesla automatically notified of Supercharger faults

I had experienced an issue at a supercharger and used the website’s support form to let them know. I received this response back. Apparently the Superchargers will automatically notify Tesla of an issue or fault. Did anyone else know this? I’ve reporting charging issues by emailing them for a...

Cross Country trip - things to consider?

I can’t comment on the cross-border travel or feature availability (I wouldn’t think there would be any differences) but I checked out the Supercharger map and it looks like there are at least 10 Supercharger stations in the downtown Toronto area alone, with plenty between there and Chicago. You...

Tesla service center no loaner Tesla anymore?

I agree, it would be much cheaper and more efficient for the company. I have a LR Model 3 but would love to have a SR Model 3 over any gas car. The loaner they gave me last week was a 90D Model S with only 10,000 miles on it!!

Tesla service center no loaner Tesla anymore?

I’ve been to the service center 3 times, first 2 were rentals, and I got a loaner Model S for the first time yesterday (North Carolina). It’s probably state or service center-specific.

Geico Ramps Up Model 3 Collision Premium

WOW! Can you ask your local agency WHY it went up so aggressively? I have Geico, I’m 24, and have had 2 accidents in the past 3 years (one at fault), yet my premium went DOWN when I renewed mine a few months ago. Yet, your new Collision premium is higher than mine is currently (with a $500 ded)...

    Automatic Car Washes

My local self-wash car wash (the ones with the strip of car ports with nozzles that contain pre-soak, soap, high-pressure water, etc.) also has a touchless automatic car wash attached to it ($8-$10-$12 depending on how 'premium' you want to go). To take care of the bug splats and other problem...

( LDA ) will save lives.

Yeah I was talking about overpowering the correction. As long as you have a firm grip on the steering wheel. Is it ideal? Not at all, especially if you don't anticipate it happening. And I agree, Tesla shouldn't force you to have to turn off ELDA every trip. My main point was really that it...

( LDA ) will save lives.

    But you can override LDA.

( LDA ) will save lives.

Did you read your owners manual? Because Tesla’s AEB feature does operate as long as the vehicle travels over 7mph (and below 90). What happens under that 25mph threshold (does it stop completely?) I have no idea. But I do agree that the circumstances you mentioned (ex. pressing the accelerator)...

( LDA ) will save lives.

It WILL brake for you...but only down to 25 mph, at which it returns control to the driver. It will also only work (to my knowledge) on cars or people (i.e. not for light-weight models of cars)

How does Tesla know when superchargers are not working

I definitely agree. Even those marked with “Reduced Service” doesn’t tell you in any way how service is reduced. It isn’t a solution, but if you don’t have the PlugShare app on your phone, I definitely recommend it. People share and post updates on Superchargers and all kinds of other EV...

    Model 3 Replacement Wiper Blades

I would love to know first hand if any of these work. My past searches on replacement blades seemed to turn up empty, but I got mine at the service center. Both blades cost $23 each (they try to charge you $20 in labor costs to put them on...lol no...)

How does Tesla know when superchargers are not working

Interesting! I’ve never heard of a follow up to a bug report submission from the car. Some have implied that those aren’t actively monitored. I have read various sources providing [email protected] as a location to send them too. That, or call the number on the station. Or submit a...

    Lost my AP after 2019.16.2

Cruise control not available EAP Missing after 2019.16.2 Could be related to USB, Sentry, and/or computer overheating based on different suggestions. When this happened, mine returned after a deep sleep, which I don’t know how to do, but basically I let it sit overnight plugged in. I don’t...

    Cruise control not available

I wouldn’t get your hopes up just yet. I got 2019.16.2 a few days ago, and I experienced this last night for the first time. No traffic or lanes on my driving visualization, and cruise/Autosteer unavailable. I came to it this morning and it was back to normal. I didn’t touch the flash drive...

Is Side Collision Avoidance still a thing?

I am not talking about either of the new lane assist features that steer your back in your lane if you exit it. I am referring to when another driver comes into your lane, and the car takes evasive action. It was never explicitly called Side Collision Avoidance, but the manual used to vaguely...

Tail lights not coming on consistently when it is raining?

I mean both the headlights and tail lights are not on (other than whatever accent lighting is always on in the front).
  22. halfricanguy

Tail lights not coming on consistently when it is raining?

Actually here’s a pic of it happening. The headlights are not on, neither on the physical car, nor the tiny Model 3, despite the green headlight icon being illuminated. Windshield wipers do appear to be on Auto as well. May be a correlation.
  23. halfricanguy

Tail lights not coming on consistently when it is raining?

I have experienced this too, usually in rainy weather. Despite the green headlight icon being on, my car’s headlights are in fact not on, and the little model 3 on the screen, those aren’t on either, despite the icon. I think this is very dangerous. In fact, I reported it a few weeks ago to...

    Glass Replacement and Geico

Definitely get a quote generated from Tesla. Shoot an email to your service center and note that you left a voicemail, maybe it’ll be easier for them to send it straight to you through email. From what I understand, Tesla doesn’t work with insurance (at least on glass repairs?) so you'll...

How often does your screen freeze/reboot?

It used to happen daily. Now that I received 2019.16.2, it is the smoothest and most stable it’s been for me in a while! (And the new visualizations are beautiful).

Fixing Rock Chips in Glass Roof!

I had a similar chip in my windshield. Went to Safelite and they used the same method and it looks great, happy to see this would work for the glass roof. BTW talk to your insurance first. I have Geico and they work directly with Safelite. They would rather pay for the window repair rather than...

What’s your Cruise Follow Distance usually set to?

In your day to day, typical commuting traffic, what’s your follow distance set to? Traffic between work to home for me is always aggressive so mine is usually set to 1. But when I’m cruising on a trip, it’s usually on 2-4.

Do you drive with your fog lights on? (POLL)

I started that thread last year, this is my favorite comment from it: But while I originally voted yes to my poll I’ve actually changed my tune since then. To me it doesn’t seem to make a huge difference in normal conditions to justify inconveniencing other drivers with the extra light. But. I...

    Supercharger Expense

My long distance data point - Total distance: 5,152 miles Total charging costs: $292.24 Mix of charging by minute and kWh. This was cheaper than what Tesla’s website thinks it would’ve cost me. One thing I learned is your Tesla account History page doesn’t include taxes, you need to open up...

Blindspot detection limited, corrupt dashcam video

I have never seen this but I wouldn’t say it’s worth returning the car for. Definitely schedule a service appointment ASAP and they will fix it under warranty for you, and give you a loaner if there is a wait. It sounds like an issue with the cameras. My car gets the blind spot detection...

MCU Crashes - Service Center Update

Try resetting it by holding the two scroll wheels down until the screen goes blank and the Tesla T comes up. Sometimes the computer does occasionally hang up and need a reboot. For others having crashing issues, try disconnecting your Slacker/Spotify account if it’s connected. I also read...

Large Slacker playlists = freezing and crashes

That would be good news. Because I’m hoping that as more intensive features are introduced on the latest cars, the older ones can still handle it. Sort of how older iPhones can slow down as new updates start to tax their resources (although I think part of that was due to Apple’s battery...

Large Slacker playlists = freezing and crashes

Hey all, I wanted to share some experience I had after connecting my Slacker account to my Model 3 - I have one massive playlist with 835 songs on it (and four other playlists with a couple hundred each). I first noticed there were issues with loading it entirely, as it would only cycle through...

Accessing third brake light...had an insect in it

Thanks for the input all. I have made an appointment using the Tesla website For Thursday and they just sent out the documentation for me to sign - they wrote it up as “Debris in 3rd brake light” and it appears to be free of charge/covered under warranty. They may call back to reschedule for...

Cross Country trip - things to consider?

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice, I indeed completed the trip, the car performed incredibly, I had fun, and had no major incidents. The scenery was incredibly beautiful, the entire trip, from the flatlands, to the deserts, to the coast, and back. The only casualty was my...

Tesla prevented me from rear ending car

It was probably the same chime you hear while backing up or maneuvering around things closely. As you get closer to an object (wall, car, pillar, etc.) it goes from a warning chime to an aggressive alert beep. I don’t think there’s any circumstance other than forward collision when the car will...

    3 LR RWD - 325 mile Test

Just adding my data point. I don’t have TeslaFi or anything like that, but I charged to ~100% twice on a long distance trip last week. 2019.8.3 - Feb. 2018 build - 31,800 miles - LR RWD. Both times, my car charged to 315 miles, and while it didn’t say charging was completed either time, the...

    Random TACC max speed decreases

Very disheartening to see this hasn’t been resolved. I just finished a cross country trip. There’s a place on your Tesla account under Manage your car to...

Unplug charging cable while car in sleepmode

AFAIK there has been no update to resolve this. But from what I can tell, if you pre-heat/cool the car via the app beforehand, it will be awake for you to disconnect the charge handle. I have to do some more testing though.

No chime for blindspot in 2019.5.15

The issue is, I’m pretty sure the system has difficulty determining if the traffic next to you is oncoming or in your direction of travel. I haven’t been able to confirm with this recent software update, but when blind spot monitoring was first released, if I was in a left turn lane with my...

Am at a loss: is the $2k FSD offer going away on Monday?

Well, did he say end of this year or end of the year? Because if the latter, he could be referring to any year :D The Model Y will come with the new hardware so I'm thinking it's the launch year he's referring to.

    Battery Drain While Driving

As mentioned, the seat heaters are more efficient than the AC/heat. I can usually get away with using the heat set to the windshield at ~69 degrees F on 1 or 2 setting while having the seat heater on full.

Leave plugged in outside for a week?
