I'm in too for the Y-cable.

    JdeMO for the Roadster?

I'm in Germany, too. There's an installation meeting planned in London. Or we might find somebody in Germany willing to do the installation. I think installation should be pretty straightforward. The high voltage being the biggest issue.

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

It would be interesting what the usable kWh for the 60, 70 and 90 models are. Could the center console on the bench be reconfigured to one of these models and then the max usable capacity read from the CAN?

Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

Funny enough the P85D can only sustain 155mph for a short time while the S85D can do it for a much longer time.

Yes, i dort like it either. Instead of percentage I would love to see remaining kWh.

Dotted line for limited power available - when do you see it?

On the German Highway without speed limit you see the dotted lines a lot. If your battery charge is below 50% it shows quicker. I would not worry about them. For sure it would be nice if they didn't show so often.

    European SuperCharger rollout updated

There is a free 22kW charging station in the central parking in Wörgl. You only have to pay for parking. No RFID card neccessary.

Car keeps telling me to “Add a Wi-Fi Connection”

Well, I guess this could always determined by checking IP addresses originating from mobile networks.

Car keeps telling me to “Add a Wi-Fi Connection”

I reported this behaviour to Tesla. The feedback I got was that once you connect it to a stationary wifi the message should go away. It does not go away if you connect it to a shared connection from a mobile phone or mobile hot spot. As I don't have a stationary wifi available I can't get rid of...

    Italy

Hi dear Italians, sorry that I post in English, but I am planning a trip to Cinque Terre end of April with my Tesla roadster. I already investigated into charging opportunities. It seems like almost all public charging stations are from Enel. As far as I understood the previous posts there is...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2014

And honestly, this might be an issue today. But if you think about it, almost no product of this complexity exists which can be attributed to a single country. I guess if you count the origin of all the parts of Model S it might well turn out to be more European or Asian than American. This...

    Model S Convertible

Well, to be really accurate it says that they are in talks with Tesla ;-) I am wondering how much this affects crash safety. Probably won't ever come to Europe I guess ... if at all.

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

Yeah, and that's why Tesla won't be eager to support a competitor's backed system. At least any other car company wouldn't. It is hard to say for me if that also holds for Tesla. But another interesting tidbit from the article is that it states explicitly that things only start moving more...

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

Looks like in Germany they are now building lots of CCS stations. Some of them without Chademo connectors. If believing the article I read yesterday at one of the major German news sites there will be 50-100 being built by the end of the year and a lot more coming in 2015. This can get important...

3rd party winter wheel options for Europe

Yes, this might be the case. But at least the likelihood is bigger that winter wheels which are available in Norway might also be available in Germany. This wouldn't be the case for US wheels for example. And if you look at the Brock site for example they are selling to many other European...

3rd party winter wheel options for Europe

I'm going to answer my own question. In Germany there is now support for the Model S from AZEV and Brock Alloy Wheels - Leichtmetallrder, Felgen, Alufelgen Both have really nice wheels and come with German certification for Model S.

You know Tesla has had a bad public relations week when....

In the end even bad press will be good for Tesla. People tend to forget why they know a brand. It will take some time, but it will help.

Air Suspension no longer lowers at highway speeds (FW update v5.8)

Just tested 5.8 on the highway. At 160kmh (100mph) the suspension goes into low. It goes back to normal once the speed is below 100kmh (60mph). So the functionality is still there but the speed activating the lowering are much higher now.

Ok thanks for the information. So should I be even more scared as a European now? ;)

    Ugh. Another Model S fire - 2013-11-06

Also R134a is banned in Europe for new cars since this year. So it's unlikely that Model S is using it. Here is some background R1234yf | The Truth About Cars
  28. N

    Ugh. Another Model S fire - 2013-11-06

R134a is used in the Roadster. And to my albeit limited knowledge the Model S uses R1234yf. At least in Europe. Does anybody know? R134a is contributing to global warming while R1234yf is highly inflammable and pretty toxic.
  29. N

    Ugh. Another Model S fire - 2013-11-06

I'm wondering if the cooling liquid also plays a significant role in this fires. As far as I know Tesla uses R1234yf cooling liquid which is highly inflammable. Carbondioxid based cooling system would seem like a much better choice for a car like the Model S. At least it would be one thing less...

Model S hits 130 Miles on the Autobahn in Germany

With a P85+ it is easy to get to 218kph that's 135mph. It also feels like it could even could go faster if it wasn't limited. Car handling is ok, but could be more stable when comparing it to the competition. Also the power limiter kicks in pretty early and often. I hope the Autobahn upgrade...

Devils advocating...from someone who shorted TSLA

I would have agreed to this a couple of weeks ago. However living really close to a Tesla Store in Germany I quite saw quite changes in store traffic the last couple of weeks. While it looked like there wasn't a lot of interest a couple of month ago, there seems to be a lot now. The store is...

Extremely disappointed with the product and my experience with my P85+

Yes, mine had this issues, too. Actually the rubber seal was jammed. The Tesla Service replaced it with a newer version once they had the spare parts. I was also told that it is some significant work required to replace it. Now it works perfectly so far ... even going 130mph on the German...

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

Well, at least to me the Prius is the anti-thesis of a car. I'm no surprised that it didn't sell in Germany. (And the hybrid version wasn't available for a long time) Speaking of car brands in Germany. I see lots of foreign cars here from Italy, France, Japan and other countries. I don't see...
  34. N

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

Yes, that is also my guess. Top speed is ok, but power limit kicks in pretty quickly at high speeds. Actually you can accelerate once up to 200kmh and then you have more or less regularly the power limited. The car feels like it could do better and the limit seems to be kind of artificial. My...

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

Actually 135kW charge rate makes perfect sense if you consider that a European single on board charger does 11kW instead of 10kW and the dual chargers do 22kW. As the Super Chargers are 12 chargers stacked together they can deliver about 135kW instead of 120kW. How much a car is able to use of...

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

I'm sure somebody made a video. I don't want to make any wrong comments. Elon mentioned some interesting numbers, but I don't recall them exactly. He also mentioned Samsung and LG as secondary cell manufacturers. It will be either or, sounded like it wasn't decided yet. And only in case that...

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

But not very likely if it is a free upgrade. And in general the Model S is really performing well already. I guess some fine tuning can still improve it, but it won't need big changes.
  41. N

10/21 Munich Tesla Event with Elon Musk

He did not really mention any details. But he just said that he will send his top tech team to Germany to make the adaption. My guess is that it is just maybe removing or upping the speed limit. The power limiter kicks in pretty quickly on the Autobahn at high speeds. They might adapt that too...

3rd party winter wheel options for Europe

    Realist isn't happy

Well, if you are talking about my posts in the Gernan forum then you did not get my point. My point was that the typical range displayed should be lower in Europe because speeds are higher on average compared to North America. I did not complain about the range itself. Although I was surprised...

    Signature P85+ Retrofit
