FSD transfer to new Model 3 refresh

Got it installed. Spent about an hour with my son testing it around about a 5 mile radius near my house. In a word... mindblowing. I'm not sure if it's all due to the firmware version or if there is some additional advantage with using HW4, but this seems like a monumental leap forward...

FSD transfer to new Model 3 refresh

Glad I found this thread because I'm in the same boat. Bought a 2024 Model 3 on March 27, took advantage of the FSD transfer from my 2018 Model 3, got the email telling me that it has been transferred from the old VIN to the new VIN, and then I just got the popup for the first few days telling...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Interesting choice for GM to evangelize their automated vehicle tech in a model that has been pulled from the market because it has a tendency to burn their customers' houses down.

So I guess they have enough beta testers?

Yup, everyone has their own threshold. I have a teenage driver in my household, and I occasionally gather enough courage to ride with him. Random braking doesn't phase me at all (LOL).

    $12K for FSD is insane

I'm a FSD beta tester, early 100 scorer. I upgraded to FSD from EAP a couple years ago because the incremental cost at the time was only $3K. I'm generally a huge Tesla fan, and I have immensely enjoyed testing FSD on my 2018 Model 3. But... I have to agree that I wouldn't pay $10K for it...

Washington Post: NHTSA is coming for Tesla's FSD Beta program

Of course, had Tesla not filed with the NHTSA, I wonder if WaPo would have even noticed. Meanwhile the FSD beta program continues on despite the bad press and speculation on increased scrutiny by the feds. Perhaps it's true that Tesla's scrutiny of FSD beta drivers combined with the more...

    FSD Beta hugging left centerline

My experience with 10.5 has been that it *finally* drives in the correct position on residential streets with no center line. This has solved most of my disengagements, because now I can finally let the car continue driving on residential streets when an oncoming car approaches. But reading...

Washington Post: NHTSA is coming for Tesla's FSD Beta program

This story was at the top of the Washington Post business section this morning: (edit: it's now in the Technology section) Tesla’s recent Full Self-Driving update made cars go haywire. It may be the excuse regulators needed. The main subject of the story is the beta 10.3 issue a couple weeks...

    Emergency Roadside Assistance

Thought I'd chime in because I had my first Tesla roadside assistance experience recently, and it was really good. I have a 2018 LR dual motor Model 3. Still under warranty with about 40,000 miles on it, but I don't think that's relevant; my understanding is that the Tesla roadside assistance...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Check the profile setting in the Autopilot menu. I forget the language they use, but there are three settings with the highest being "aggressive", I think. See what happens if you reduce that setting one level. (I'd look up the menu to give you the exact language, but my car is busy...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

This has occurred to me as well. This is a bit cynical, but I have wondered if Tesla saw an oncoming regulatory storm that will shut down their beta test program, and so they accelerated it so they could gather as much data as possible to feed into Dojo before it all gets shut down. This is...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

OK, so I just went into my car and checked. After briefly having 10.3 reverted and then apparently re-reverted... now I too have AEB and FCW disabled in my settings. Can't say I'm real happy that was done with no notification. Predicting another update in the next day or two. That said...

Yep. Installed the 10.3 this morning (2021.36.5.2), was too afraid to drive the car after reading here about all the chaos, but now I see a 2021.36.5.1 coming through. I guess they're reverting everyone back to 10.2.

MASTER THREAD : FSD Beta Issues Tracking Spreadsheet

Contrasting experiences with speed bumps/humps... In one case I saw the car try to drive at full speed (like 30 mph) over very short, high speed bumps on a private drive. This would not have gone well for my suspension. Yesterday I experienced the car slowing down brilliantly for much wider...

I disagree. Having watched the videos on Tesla's FSD computer architecture, their Dojo neural net training "supercomputer", etc., I think their neural network will benefit from having more drivers in more diverse locations. The problem they are trying to solve of using a neural network to...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

OK, after three full days and maybe 100 miles on FSD beta I'm starting to get used to how the car behaves. For what it's worth, I have a relatively early 2018 Model 3 dual motor which had the HW3 upgrade done about a year ago, VIN is just over 100K. (My newer 2021 Model Y does not have FSD)...

I actually got the email and the FSD download this morning with a score of 99. I had a 100 going into yesterday, screwed up with braking at a yellow light and had my overall drop to 99. Was kind of bummed but accepting, and then surprised to see that I got the download this morning. Going to...

Yesterday I drove to the top of Pikes Peak and down with an out-of-town friend. Scored 100. Best part was when the young woman at the ticket window gave me the obligatory speech about brake usage, which went something like this: "Now, it's extremely important that on your way back down you...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Michelin will making EV specific tire for the U.S.

Regardless of whatever the marketing material says, I suspect the "hard compound for the center of the tread" is to increase the tire life in lieu of EV torque, not to increase its grip. Perhaps Michelin is doing this because they're getting tired of honoring the treadwear warranty on their...

I agree with this characterization exactly. The buffeting is subsonic, for sure. More like a pressure wave like you feel (as someone else pointed out however many pages ago in this thread) when the cabin door is closed on an airplane. But happening once or twice a second. I found it very...
