    Wheelbands track and insert choices?

For those of you with a red 3 and 19” wheels and put on Wheelbands, did you go red track/red insert or silver track/red insert?
  2. P

What are easiest and budget friendly mods to give our new M3 a slightly individual look?

Did you go just red inserts or red track too?

    What's next for model 3?

I’d trade in tomorrow for a two door hatchback. Or, a two door hardtop convertible. The former would obviously sell much better than a convertible

    Plaid+ CANCELLED

Those of us who can’t charge at home would disagree. More range means less frequent trips to the SC

Blog Tesla Banks $101M Profit from Bitcoin

So if my math works, Tesla bought $1.5b, had net cash outflow on Bitcoin of -$1.2b so they must have sold $300m for a profit of $101m in the quarter. Not bad

Is there any car manufacturer with worse customer service than Tesla?

I’ve had nothing but good experience with Tesla service. BMW OTOH was horrible over two cars and more than one dealer. Reading the boards it sounds like the Tesla experience is extremely SC specific

Have you seen a refreshed Model S/X in person?

Since they went chrome delete I think they should have made the side mirrors black too. My local SS manager chrome deleted his red S including the mirror housings and it looks great. He has black wheels too which completes the look

M3P - Who switched from a (true) sports car?

I have owned Porsches in the past but only had one car (an S) when I decided to buy my 3 (Dual motor LR). I drove a Cayman amongst others and just didn’t like the pedal lag you get with even the best ICE cars. Once you go electric you just can’t go back(wards) to ICE. Admittedly I didn’t have...

Car manufacturers with worse service than Tesla

Sadly it’s service center dependent. I’ve had great experience here in Portland, OR. Much better than I ever had with BMW over multiple dealerships. Lexus was the best I’ve experienced.

Model S Trade In - Ridiculous Offer

Or their previously owned inventory has risen too high. Dynamic pricing. Tesla actually gave me the highest amount last July.

If you could change one thing about the Model 3...

    2 door, hatchback, heated steering

    Tesla Service WiFi

I have no wifi in my parking spot so I swing by Tesla Service every few weeks to connect to service wifi and snag an update. I go on Sunday when service is closed so I can park right by the garage entrance

Model S range and interior update imminent?

I love the 3 dash. I’d like the S to have the 3 dash concept but with a wider screen and nicer finishes. I really prefer the 3 air vents over the S. Note I own a S and a 3.
  14. P

Rock chip, should I be worried

Knock on wood I’ve never had a chip on my S or 3. I used to own a Mitsubishi Montero and that sucker’s windshield was practically vertical. Had to replace the windshield every year

Why is Black the least popular color?

Great info! I live where a normal hand wash isn’t easily done. is there a particular brand you would recommend? For a car that has front PPF and ceramic all over do I use the no wax version?

    Car keeps shutting down!

If you leave your seat belt on will that do the trick?

Traveling by Supercharger can be more expensive than ICE

and of course the newer superchargers that charge at faster rates drive the demand charges ever higher. I used to work in the industry and the monthly demand charge from LADWP was based on the single highest instance of demand within the month. Yes, it’s all about the demand charges.

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Sorry if this was covered 30 pages ago, but are the new aero covers thought to to be more efficient or is it purely a cosmetic change?

    Consumers disdain for “Self Driving”

I didn’t read the article but I’m guessing the author used “disdain” instead of not interested in the current state of technology because he had a predetermined opinion. When it’s absolutely perfect I’ll be interested but I’m not now and like someone else said, TACC takes care of the worst...

    TACC following distance

that’s interesting. I have mine set at 3 because anything more and people will cut in front of you resulting in hard breaking. If not for that factor I’d be at 4 or 5 for a more genteel experience

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

The only color I like with the black trim is black so I wouldn’t have purchased my M3 in red if the 2021 had been available. But I’d have been happy to get the all black 2021 model. I bought in July....and it’s perfect - no flaws so I’m perfectly happy

Got screwed by Tesla's terrible customer service again

that’s a bummer. I live in Portland and just bought my 3rd Tesla, a red inventory M3 that was in Seattle. Picked it up on Tuesday and it is perfect. From reading these boards it seems things are dealer/service center specific. As an aside, I test drove a Cayman, a TT, Mercedes SLC and they...

    Demo vehicle pricing

I agree it needs a bigger discount but the reason to buy is if the fit/finish is really good and you don’t want to risk getting a new car that has issues and dealing with that stuff.
  26. P

    Few concerns from new owner

I did the same on my S and I’ve had no heat issues at all

Update from Tesla service on screen yellowing

My plan too. My yellowing is minor at this time, just started showing up about a month ago. Car was built in June ‘18

Got Tired Of The EV Shuffle With Dealers And Bought A Tesla

I have long legs and a short torso. My solution (in my S) was to raise the seat to max height and use a seat cushion.

Review - Tire repair - Vancouver Costco

Mine was fixed for free at Tesla service. My tire was too flat to drive so it was picked up and taken to the Portland SC. Got the latest (at that time) SW download too....important to me since there’s no WiFi in my condo garage

White Interior on the Model 3 in Oz

I’ve put ceramic tint on all windows (MS), black interior is just fine heat-wise. That said I think the white interior looks fantastic but I’ve read on this site that blue jeans leave a stain that won’t come out.

$2,200 discount on showroom model. Worth it? Anything I should keep an eye out for?

3 miles and looks good? Buy it if it’s got what you want (color, model, etc)
  32. P

    Model 3 stinks ....

I had to drive my sister’s Camry the other day. Couldn’t wait to get out of it. The thing “creeped” at 20mph, had my foot on the break way too often, had to push a button to turn on/off the car, etc, etc. other than a manual shift sports car I don’t ever want to drive an ICE again.
  33. P

    White Interior - Blue Jeans

Love the white interior but I went black just because of potential issues like this
  34. P

Gulp... I guess this is really happening

Have to say, I’m greatly enjoying following your anticipation saga. Can’t wait for the next chapter!
  35. P

Tesla Superchargers are overwhelmed with Model 3s

I hope it’s not the life of my vehicle but charging at home (condo) is moving at a glacial pace. However I am retired so I only visit the SC during off peak times. There’s an urban charger “planned” near me that if ever built would allow me to do shorter charges - ~70%

Thinking About Selling Camaro SS 1LE For a Model 3

No way, black with chrome delete is the fastest. The money you save on black pays for the chrome delete. And looks best after you tint the windows. And I’ve always been a red sports car guy.

    Model 3 Convertible

Make that a 2 door convertible M3. Someone did a mock-up of a 2 door coupe that looked incredible but a convertible (power hardtop convertible please) would be an absolute killer

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

I’m at 303 after 3,600 miles of mostly winter driving. Been around 275 lately as it’s warmed up enough to get full regen.

    Software update 2019.9.x

Interesting, I just had a flat fixed at the service center and they pushed 2019.5.15 without me even asking. I was on 2018.3x as I don’t have WiFi where I park.

How many model 3s will take deliver in q1

I just read the manual two times before picking up the car. Had the delivery guy show me the charging cable and adapters to make sure I could charge it.

    Unlimited supercharging?

Can’t speak for him but my only good option is supercharging. The building I live in is working on installing outlets in the garage but who knows when it will finally happen

    Ludicrous mode vs sport mode

Isn’t there a difference in TACC?

Tesla Model 3 Performance value at CarMax - appraisal lower than expected!

As everyone else has stated, Carmax is not the place to sell very new cars and/or unique ones. 3 years from now the M3 will probably get a more competitive offer as there will be a big volume of them out there. Based on my experience a 4-6 year old fairly high demand vehicle that is in good...

    Supercharger - Tigard, OR

Yes, Tigard/Washington Square Mall gets slammed on weekends and during lunchtime on weekdays. They pull out a “40 minute” limit sign during busy times. No idea how they enforce it

Going between Tesla's regenerative braking and ICE (stick shift) braking

I thought it was supposed to but I didn’t find it was doing so. Fortunately doesn’t matter now.

Going between Tesla's regenerative braking and ICE (stick shift) braking

It took about a month to get my wife to go from low regen and creep on to standard/creep off. I used creep on for the first week. But yeah, it was very annoying LOL

First boatload of M3 to Europe

Have to say, this is a fun thread to follow.

Aero Wheel Covers for Model S (Like Model ≡)

Anyone know of anything happening on this for the S? I assume the M3 caps aren’t possible to mount on the S
  49. P

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

Great list. Given (I assume) better margins on the S than the 3, I’m surprised they don’t do one or more of the “extras” that you list. In particular unlimited supercharging. My guess is people who can afford an S or X can charge at home and thus supercharging wouldn’t cost TESLA too much.
  50. P

Stay in car or Eat/shop while supercharging?

Yep, I’m category 1 (no ability to charge at home). I’m retired so I go twice a week during non-peak hours. I’m usually charging from 35/40% to 80% so it only takes 30 minutes. Sometimes I walk around and sometimes I sit in the car I read.
