    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

If that's what they're doing it's not "slightly deceiving," it is utterly fraudulent. It's also, unfortunately, increasingly common: all too often these days people are throwing together pop-up "companies" that in reality consist of nothing more than a web storefront, where all of "their"...

This was my thought too... 700lbs load limit on a wheel has got to be a typo.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Hi all, My setup is definitely not as sexy as most of the ones being posted here, but I'm in snow country with a brand new baby in a carseat in the back, so... ;) Given the above, my primary concerns were traction and cost (I didn't need these to look good, I just needed them to keep everyone...

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Ah, a couple of other notes: - As the Discount Tire rep told me and others have confirmed here, the OEM lug nuts DO NOT FIT the Liquidmetal Shift wheel lug holes (the lug hole diameter is too small), so you *DO* need to buy the aftermarket lug nuts (the nuts that came with the Discount Tire...

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Well it's been quite a while, but I'm finally able to post some pics of my install (my wife had our first child in the mean time, so things have been a bit hectic around our house for the last several weeks ) To recap, I ended up buying a set of Hakka R3s at my local Tire Warehouse, then bought...

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Interesting that the P and the LR have different wheel hubs! Hopefully the rings I got will fit. I'll report back when I know! Well it's a bit of a pain but I guess it isn't a terrible thing to have separate sets of lug nuts for the two sets of wheels. I'll be curious to see what the socket...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Went with the Liquid Metal Shifts. A few people have said good things about them. They arrive on Wednesday, and I'll get the R3s mounted in the next week or so. I'll post pictures. :-)

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Excellent, good to know. I got the 18x8s (26lbs) for my snow tires... $533 wheels and lug nuts only, also from Discount Tire (I got a set of Hakka R3s separately).

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Very helpful, thank you! I'm not familiar with wheel manufacturers (I don't buy wheels that often and it's been years since my last new set!) and I wasn't able to find much of anything in the way of real-person reviews of the wheels, so that feedback is really valuable. Thank you! I ordered...

That's good to hear, thank you. This was my first time doing business with Discount Tire, so that's reassuring. Thank you.

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Oh the destination charger is definitely more of a PITA than a supercharger... anyway, yeah, if you charge to some moderate percentage (30% or so) and you make sure the car isn’t keeping the heat on or whatever during those couple of days (remember to shut off sentry mode if you have it on...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Hmm, I’m not sure about that. I tried charging my Model 3 on 120v power when I was at my parents’ house in Maine overnight once (where it was chilly, but nowhere near as cold as ggies07 will be), and it literally didn’t charge at all. The amperage of the 120v circuit matters: if it is a 20A...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

Eesh. That's certainly a scary (and SUPER serious) bug if true. I just got the update yesterday and drove "Hold" mode today for the first time (I didn't even change it; after the update the car defaulted to "Hold" mode!). Was a bit different and I can imagine it'll take a bit of getting used...

Anyone ever heard of "Liquid Metal" wheels? Any idea if they're a reputable wheel brand? Anyone have experience about them either way?

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Like seemingly most of the inexpensive wheels sold on Discount Tire, I can't find much about this company. Has anyone used or have any experience with Liquid Metal wheels? (I'm specifically looking at their "Shift" wheel for use as my winter wheels.)

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Hi all, For my winter setup I decided to buy a second set of wheels and TPMS sensors so I could do the changeover myself. The TPMS sensors were easy: I found a set of four specifically intended for the Model 3 that are well-reviewed on Amazon for $119, here. So now I just have to find a set...

    Condensation inside camera glass?

Hi all, A number of times recently I’ve seen condensation on the inside of the glass between the side cameras and the exterior. This morning I got a “camera obscured, blind spot detection compromised” error message. Has this happened to others? Is there anything I can do about it?

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

One more try on this one. :-) I need some advice on wheels. I really only care about two things when it comes to winter wheels: that they fit, and that they're cheap. I would honestly buy a set of $25 steel wheels if I could find them in the right size. Discount Tire (which I've found to have...

    Winter Tires on Model 3

Hi all, I need some advice on wheels. For my winter setup I decided on 18" Hakka R3s (I found a pretty good deal on them at my local Tire Warehouse... $924 for 4... cheaper than Discount Tire!). I found a set of four TPMS sensors specifically intended for the Model 3 that are well-reviewed on...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Can't say definitively, but I tend to doubt it was the installers' fault. Wheels mount to hubs - very straightforward. Not a whole lot of room for installer error. Again, can't say definitively, but it sounds like PMCTires screwed up and those wheels do not, in fact, fit the Model 3 Performance.

Well, everyone seems to be in agreement that I am behind the times and living in the past with my preference for studded winter tires, so I suppose I'll have to consider studless. :p Okay, so what are folks' preferred studless snows? (FWIW, I'll be splitting my time this winter driving...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

That's exactly what I've done for years; when the seasons changes, I just jack the car up and change the wheels over myself. Doing this though, have you noticed your tires get out of balance? My last set even started to leak air. I suppose when this happens I could go get the tires remounted...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Many thanks for the feedback. You raise a good point about temperature, and the softer compounds in studless vs. (relatively) harder compounds in studded. In the places where I drive we get lots of wet, messy driving conditions, but it doesn't usually get very cold... since I'm near the coasts...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

My conundrum now is whether to run one set of wheels, or two. What I've noticed...

Anyone else notice degraded Lane Change functionality with 2019.8.5?

I got the 2019.8.5 update this past week (M3 LR AWD) then a day or two later was driving home from Boston and turned on auto steer and navigate on autopilot. Hoo boy. Every. Single. lane change failed. The car would begin to change lanes, cut back into the original lane, start to change lanes...

Funny hearing everybody's (wildly divergent ;)) efficiency numbers... yeah, I'm hoping to get my 270 average right now (based on *only* winter driving) down substantially this summer. Really? Oof. Yeah, I've had the car since the week before Christmas, so it's been cold since I've had the car (average temp since I've had it is definitely below freezing). I think last I looked my lifetime average was about 270 Wh/mi. Maybe I drive more grandmotherly than you? :D

Stated Battery Capacity / EPA Economy / Mileage Does Not Add Up

LOL. I got a sticker, it just wasn't stuck. When my car was delivered my sticker (the standard one which I'm pretty sure every new car sold in the U.S. is required by law to come with?) was sitting, unpeeled from its adhesive backing, on the area behind the rear seats under the rear window. It...

Stated Battery Capacity / EPA Economy / Mileage Does Not Add Up

I know that Tesla recommends not de-charging to lower than 10%, and not regularly charging above 90%, meaning that you should only be regularly using 80% of the battery capacity. That shouldn't be relevant to this issue though; both Tesla's and the EPA figures should (?) be based on 100% of the...

Stated Battery Capacity / EPA Economy / Mileage Does Not Add Up

Hi all, Since I got my car (Model 3 Long-Range Dual Motor (not Performance)) I've been curious about the math behind the stated range & consumption. Tesla says the (long range) battery capacity is 75 kWh. They say the range on a full charge is 310 miles. If you do that math, 75,000 / 310 = 242...
