Rejected 4 cars, was told they would not request more cars for me

Tesla is not currently the right car company for you. If little stuff like those panel gaps get in the way of your ability to enjoy what is probably the best driving car on the road right now, look elsewhere...

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

I was referring to the difference in range experienced between an AWD with 19" wheels and my P3D+ with 20" wheels, not the LR RWD. There IS a very large difference between the LR RWD and either AWD variant (P or Non-P), just NOT that big a difference (if you drive them the same way) between the...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Me neither. I think that they would look out of place on the Tesla. They look more "amped up" and less "classy." At least IMHO...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Because they probably have not figured out what the issue actually is...very frustrating!

Jaguar I-Pace in the Wild. I Don't Get it.

I am not particularly in love with the looks of the Model X (and I consider it to be the least aesthetically pleasing of the three current Tesla models), but it is more because I just generally do not appreciate big cars / SUV's -- no matter what you do to them it's impossible to hide their...

Jaguar I-Pace in the Wild. I Don't Get it.

Love it. As I said, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and the completely different perspective we have on this is one of the things that keeps life interesting (and wonderful)!

Jaguar I-Pace in the Wild. I Don't Get it.

I came across one parked in a parking lot in advance of a Jaguar event that happens every Father's Day here in town ("Cat's in the Garden," or something like that). My wife and i pulled in to the parking lot next to it without initially realizing what it was. My wife looked over and said "that...

Will Model 3 get a heat pump for cabin heating?

So the Kia beats a Ferrari too in terms of efficiency...which would you rather drive? If you choose the Kia (over the Model 3), we are all free to buy one. Driving a car (even an EV) is most definitely NOT all just about efficiency...just look at that thing (the Kia that is)! The overall...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

So I have a friend that has an (older) Model S P90D -- at least several years old -- and guess what, HIS carbon fiber spoiler is lifting on the right side. I actually pointed it out to him last week. He had never noticed it before and its lifting a lot more than many of the photos of our Model...

Model 3 owner in a loaner Model S: impressions

I am HUGELY grateful. That said, if Tesla did not create the 3 I would never have become a customer. The S and X just ain't my cup of tea... The reality is that the only things these three cars have in common is that they are EV's and made by the same company. They are aimed at completely...

Model 3 owner in a loaner Model S: impressions

I have driven several Model S’s over the years and was never tempted by a Tesla UNTIL the Model 3. I felt that the S (and even more so the X) were just too big for my taste. I prefer a sport sedan far and away to either SUV’s or big, luxury cars. I really, prefer my P3D to every S I have been in...

M3: No off button for audio?

It consistently amazes me how often people don’t read the manual. I have taken to answering questions like this one by saying “read the manual.”

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

I did not see them dry-fit either one. But the second was installed this past Thursday and they actually kept my car overnight to inspect it again 24 hours after the install. Looks perfect. I will keep you posted!

    Tesla is annoying me

Yes, Telsa is waaaaaaay too Techy / Silicon Valley for its own good in this regard. You can get away with garbage service and support when you are so leading edge that there is no alternative product / service that does what you've invented (or, at least does it nowhere near as well). But that...

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

Everyone's economic equation is different. Let me offer a counterpoint... Purchaser is a car enthusiast (e.g. me). Purchaser used to have one great performance car to drive hard (mainly on weekends) and enjoy purely for the sake of its performance and the joy / fun of driving. Said...

    Tesla is annoying me

As a guy who has spent all of my adult life managing businesses (sometimes successfully and, frankly, sometimes making a bit of a mess that requires fixing!) I often finding my mind wandering to just how friggin' invincible Tesla would be if the Company was run even halfway as well as the cars...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Mine was perfect upon leaving the service center around a month ago. Tomorrow it goes back in to be replaced as the right side has pulled away a couple of mm's. The issue started within 3-4 days of the initial install.

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

Thanks for the follow-up. Your experience and mine are, in fact, very different, but I appreciate your perspective. At the end of the day I bought a car (P3D) whose advertised range is based on an efficiency of 250 Wh/mi and I have no doubt based on my experience that if I drive it reasonably...

    Any Model 3 Owner Cyclists?

I THINK it would be possible to lay one on top of another (carefully and with a blanket in between them) if done the right way, but since I have not actually done it yet in my Model 3 I really cannot say for sure. I did this all of the time in my Volt, but that's a hatchback and as you mention...

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

Zero question that for efficiency the RWD rocks AND is still plenty fast!
  25. UngaBunga1989

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

You have test driven them over a period of time, really, how so? I did not know that Tesla offered such a program. I am basing my statements on 4,000+ miles driving my P and roughly 500 miles driving an AWD...so I do think that my experiences are statistically relevant -- even if only using...
  26. UngaBunga1989

Downsides of Performance vs Long Range?

Your statement about range is incorrect. My father has the AWD and I have the P. On similar trips at this time of year I generally experience between 240 and 250 Wh/mi on my P and between 235 and 240 Wh/mi on his AWD -- nowhere near a 20% difference. There seems to be this myth out there that...

Delivered less than one month. Already many chips on bumper!!

I really cannot believe that you are attributing this to "inferior" paint. If you were worried about rock chips on your bumper you should have gotten the front of the car wrapped (as many of us have done). The paint on the Tesla is no more or less prone to being damaged by rocks than any other...

    Model 3 AP Induced Crash?

If AP WAS engaged, it should NOT have been in that driving situation...
  32. UngaBunga1989

    Lost my AP after 2019.16.2

Both my father and I had the same issue and it was easily fixed by a full power down, waiting 2 minutes and then pressing the brake pedal to restart. Car must be parked when doing this. If u don’t know how to power down the car, read the manual.

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

Thanks for sharing those photos. I completely agree with you...that's not even acceptable for a $19,000 car!
  34. UngaBunga1989

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

That is just such a crappy way to deliver a new product. I am sorry you had to deal with that. Your experience is clearly the exception rather than the rule, but there should be ZERO tolerance for delivering a less than perfectly prepped car... Elon, in the long term service delivery...
  35. UngaBunga1989

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

You can always choose to buy an Enclave or a BMW and drive them rather than a Tesla. Stop trying to convince those of us who are extremely satisfied with the cars that Tesla is building that we are missing some quality issue or to care about your issues in the same way that you do. We voted...

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

This Tesla "panel gap issue" is a bit absurd to me. Yesterday I was stuck in traffic heading to Brooklyn, NY with this thread in my mind so I looked closely at panel gaps on numerous BMW's, Audi's, Chevy's, Hyundai's, Honda's, Toyota's and ALL of them had "panel gap issues." Take a look for...
  37. UngaBunga1989

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

You go get 'em tiger! Look for EVERY imperfection on your car...know each one intimately and in graphic detail. Loose sleep over it. Obsess about it. And your point is? Teslas are made by humans. Humans are imperfect. Teslas are imperfect (and so has every other car I have owned including...
  38. UngaBunga1989

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

It's a car made by imperfect humans, so let's keep things in perspective. It was in excellent shape but not perfect. There were a few dust specks in the paint and one scratched trim panel on the driver's door. The trim panel was replaced and I did ZERO about the paint. I continue to be...

Performance not getting 310 miles promised

Out here on the East Coast in NYC Metro many of our speed limits on highways are still 55 mph, so 65-70 mph is a “realistic” speed benchmark. Again, please do not state things as if 250 Wh/mi is not possible at these speeds with the PS4S. It’s not only totally doable, I find it rather easy. I...

Performance not getting 310 miles promised

NIssan Leaf is a Better Car Than the Tesla Model 3?

I would (and did) pay a LOT more for a Tesla than a Leaf. It does everything better from a driving-experience AND EV perspective.
  46. UngaBunga1989

Performance not getting 310 miles promised

I know that it is not that complicated to be efficient, but it does require a learned set of skills and attention to detail while driving. I doubt that my car is anything special (by the way it is a full-blown P3D+, not the Stealth version). As I mentioned earlier, the difference between my...

Performance not getting 310 miles promised

I have also been driving EV's since 2011 and I really do believe that counts for something. Knowing when to lift and let Regen do its thing, how to accelerate gradually up to speed, looking way ahead on the highway to gradually slow down when traffic does for max Regen? All of those things...

NIssan Leaf is a Better Car Than the Tesla Model 3?

The Tesla M3 is a performance car that also happens to be an efficient EV. The Leaf and Bolt are econo-boxes that happen to be EV’s. The only things they have in common is an electric drive train. I cannot think of many less sexy cars than the Leaf or the Bolt. Comparing the cars (Leaf and...
