Screen protector for sure.
I got rimblades to protect against curb rash. Lots of colors to choose from.
Major spurge, but if you're going to do PPF and ceramic, do it now. Lots of opinions about whether to do it, but it has saved my bacon a couple of times. Just be sure the shop does extensive...
Sorry in advance for the long post, I don't have time to make it shorter :-)
Important tip that I don't see mentioned yet: If you get PPF installed, make sure the installer does thorough "paint correction" before installing the PPF. In fact, if the installer pushes back on this or calls it...
I may be having a faulty speaker as well. Every once in a while music sounds tinny for a second or two, then blips back to normal. How does one definitively diagnose if that's the problem?
I would think it would be covered under the new car warranty...
From a recent update (prior to 2020.40.4) I noticed that adjusting the speed during Auto speed happened rather abruptly. Previously, when adjusting the speed using the scroll wheel, it adjusted your actual speed smoothly.
Did anyone else notice this, and if so has 2020.40.4 fixed this?
Do you drive and brake hard? 20k should have very little usage of the pads, no?
Wait - Does regen "braking" actually use brakes? I thought it was pure motor braking, saving the pads and rotors.
Is my world a lie? Am I living a dream turned nightmare?!?!
Paint correction is essential!!! Make sure your installer does that extensively. It may cost a little more, but it's a *must*.
FYI, I also did the Xpel PPF. Very very happy with it.
I talked to my insurance company (USAA) before I had ppf installed. Was told that I need to tell the insurance that I'm doing ppf for them to cover it. But they said that's not the case. They would cover any aftermarket stuff including ppf as long as I had receipts and stuff to prove that I had it.
I dunno, I like the idea of being able to charge anywhere I happen to be, including not hunting down a supercharger. That's why I bought the bundle, as well as the TT-30 adapter from ESVE Adapters.
But what have I actually used? I believe only the 5-15, 14-50 and J1772.
My issue was similar. I purchased the car from a nice old man, but not technically savvy, and he did not change ownership like he should have. But no worries, once you have all of the registration and whatnot, you can reach out to support and have them do the transfer of ownership. Takes a few...
I also bought mine from a third party. The previous owner should log on to their Tesla account and say that they sold it to a third party. There is a button specifically for this. You also should create your own Tesla account and claim ownership of the vehicle, there is also a button...
I am in Florida as well, a couple hours North of Miami. About 15 months ago, I did a full PPF wrap with xpel ultimate, and ceramic on top of that. And it still looks fantastic. About to take it infor a "rejuvenation" coat of ceramic, although it doesn't look like it needs it.
Critical thing...
I did the same thing (both PPF and ceramic) also not quite a year ago, and it still looks like a million bucks.
Also if you have curb rash, consider rimsavers to cover and protect. I have them and they're great. Many colors are available, but note that the exact shade may not match the paint...
I have the same issue! Doesn't quite go out far enough. IdI am surprised getit dinged for safety rating agency for the short-coming, although I think it is a common malady. Would love it if they could fix the issue!
I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I bought my flash drive while back, and tested it right away - seemed to work fine. But I didn't get one that was recommended in the manual, in fact I'm not even sure there was a Tesla recommendation for one at the time. So the frequent writes may...
That's right - I can't even read it from my PC. That is, it sees that there is something connected to the USB port, but it can't read any data from it.
The dashcam light was appearing though before I took it out.
I'm thinking it's time to install some ugly third party thing instead of...
Gosh I'm glad this thread is going - apparently, my USB thumb drive is no longer working, so sentry mode and dash cam haven't recorded a thing!
I gotta figure out what is going on, since this was a brand new USB drive (maybe 3 months old at this point). Do the thumb drives get worn out quickly...
Have you thoroughly researched the decision whether or not to ship to Portugal? I am in Florida but I have a flat there, and know that you have double tax for new cars. You'll have to pay VAT regardless, which is 23% (!) I heard that shipping a car from the US was like $3k or so, but even if it...
I have some experience to share, and something to recommend based on my experience. I purchased Rim Savers from rpmtesla.com (no affiliation). I had them installed by the company that did PPF and ceramic for me - They did a great job, and said they'd only charge me an hourly shop rate. The...
At least it now tells you that the slope is too much. It used to just fail without telling you why it is failing. I had to figure out it's because of the slope of my driveway.
I had my whole car done in Xpel ultimate plus. With ceramic on top of that.
One thing: Make sure you installer does a thorough paint correction before installing, whether on just the bra, full front, whole car, or whatever you decide.
I purchased a LR RWD from a private party. I have had no issues whatsoever. It came with EAP and I purchased FSD when the price dropped from $3,000 to $2,000. They have not upgraded my hardware yet to 3.0, but I still get all the updates for the 2.5 hardware and it is just a matter of time until...
OK, I've been reading a ton about the rotation pattern, esp for Jules, my beautiful red Model 3 LR RWD (which has OEM tires, MXM4s), and I think I've figured out something. Please critique:
- When you look at the Michellin website and other tire websites, they'll invariably call for a rearward...
I don't know why they recommend front to back only (without crossing) if the tires aren't uni-directional. Won't that cause problems with premature wear?
Awesome! Thanks for doing this, I think I'll try it. A couple questions:
- Does it matter whether you pull the side panel off first vs the under-the-glove-compartment panel first? And when putting it back on, does the order matter which you do first / second?
- Why did you put the original air...
I dug up the email from that guy I mentioned, he does PPF and ceramic:
The vehicle needs to be prepped prior to the PPF film installation. This should be a deep wash, clay bar treatment, de-iron surface cleaner. It then needs to be buffed, and any swirls, holograms and micro-maring needs to be...
Oh I forgot something important - If you decide to do a wrap and/or ceramic on your M3, be *sure* the installer does thorough paint correction. I had one installer say it'll take a day and another several days. I asked the latter why so long, and he said that they take a good long time to do...
I'm thinking of getting a sun shade for my window that reads, "SENTRY MODE IS ENABLED - You will be recorded if you touch this vehicle."
Although I worry a bit that it's asking for trouble...
Oh I think the tax credit makes it an easy choice. That is, you are *hoping* the price falls by at least $2k, whereas you *know* you will lose the $1875 by waiting until July or later.
You could also scour for a good deal on a used one. I found a good deal on a used M3, but that unusual; In...
Other than possibly a more comfortable ride, any issue with keeping the 18" aeros at 50psi? Our roads generally aren't bad where we are here in FL, and I like the idea of the tires lasting longer (which I presume would be the case with the higher psi).
Well, I figured out what happened. In short, I'm an idiot. I bought a SATA drive thinking it was SSD. Reformatted that sucker twice to no avail, then finally I felt movement when I touched it and thought, "Son of a *****, did I just buy something with a spinning disk?" Yup.
I was using an 8GB flash drive for my dashcam and Sentry, which worked for a bit, and I noticed the dashcam had the little x on it. So I looked at it, and it said it was full. So I deleted all the content, put it back in, and voila - Worked again. Of course, it soon filled up again so I bought a...
I have a full size spare. Im just going to do one at a time, where I put the spare on first and take it off last after going through the rotation one by one. That way I only need one regular jack and one hockey puck thing. No jack stand.
I like the wood - like console wrap. I bought it but haven't installed it yet.
if you just bought it and has basically no miles on it yet now is the time to do ppf and ceramic. Try to find somebody who will do paint correction first.
Given that there is now a fancy jeda wireless charger that's custom for the model 3, and Sentry mode seems to be pretty valuable along with the dashcam, I'm wondering what are yall's thoughts are as to the ideal USB / power set up?
For example, I am thinking:
- The new Jeda with the 12v wire...
I purchased a used Model 3 about a month ago, and I emailed [email protected] as mentioned above. It took about 6 or 7 business days to transfer, after I emailed them all the information they require. Here is the exact message with the instructions that they sent me:
In order to...
hmm.... After reading all this twice, I'm still feeling dense about what I should do after an accident, but I'm thinking I have two options that will work:
OPTION 1 - Wait & pull
- Get in accident, & pull over
- Wait 2+ minutes (but less than an hour)
- Unplug USB thumb drive (ie. don't even...
