    Model Y vs Rivian R1S

I've seen the R1S & R1T in person but not the model Y. Just eyeballing, the Rivians are similar in size to the Toyota Tacoma & 4runner. Model Y will definitely be physically smaller. Rav4 vs 4runner size comparison will probably be similar.

    No more tesla chat?

Berkeley SC is a complete joke of an organization. Just show up and demand you speak to the service manager, then refuse to leave. Just go in that little office next to the restroom. Trying to reach anyone other than showing up in person is a waste of time. Ridiculous how bad it is. The...

What should I expect from the Tesla Service Center?

I mean every dealer/shop I have dealt with in the past was able to answer the phone at the very least. Many Tesla SC's have 0 communication lines and no voicemail. In my case, it's the worst customer service I've ever dealt with regardless of industry. Comcast, AT&T, {insert any company}, is a...

What should I expect from the Tesla Service Center?

Also probably expect little to no communication once you leave your car. Service centers are moving towards a no phone, no email, only text when they feel like it. Try calling the SC you will visit. If there is no way to speak to anyone and there is no email address, you're probably in for a bad...

What should I expect from the Tesla Service Center?

Here in the Bay Area, it's more of a roll of a single die. 1/6 is a good service center. roll it again 1/6 they will actually fix issues and not leave more issues because they're busy.

    Owners service experience

Hold up, do they give you a work order before you park your car? These 5 days should count toward lemon laws. If not, this seems kind of..... weird/shady...

Issues on delivery and with service center

Good luck, I hope your service center isn't completely horrible at everything. With q4 sales, even if the SC didn't suck before, it probably will shortly.

PSA: Don't use third-party apps and services, period.

Last I heard, this takes a month. Try to reach customer service, customer service files ticket, some dev probably inserts a row into a db table. If it's faster now, good job Tesla I guess? Still a stupid low hanging fruit that engineering could fix.

PSA: Don't use third-party apps and services, period.

Needing to share accounts/passwords with spouses to get the app to work/drive the car is some BS. Almost every software offering regarding security has some sort of share/invite other users with different levels of access. How hard is it to create a new table of shared/collaborator users that...

Tesla has removed any way to contact support from site

Here is my thread on getting to chat: No more tesla chat? It's disabled to obviously deter people from using it. Engineering on the service department of Tesla seems to be pretty bad/lazy/non-existant as they're commenting out code instead of removing it and not obfuscating it either. Not...

    Any Taco to Cyber Converts?

Keeping my 2003 prerunner with 192k miles for as a backup in case Tesla still doesn't have their service & customer service fixed by then.

    Front Row, middle seat airbag?

Looks hopeful as long as it can clear the bottom of the screen and reach the passenger’s head area. Hopefully Tesla has a solution. Last thing they need is more news about passengers head butting the screen.

    Front Row, middle seat airbag?

Thanks for the info gents. Looks like the center seat will be reserved for the mother in law ;)

    Front Row, middle seat airbag?

There does seem to be the roof bar right in front of the front row so perhaps a curtain of some sort that comes down, similar to side curtain airbags... I'm no lawyer, but it seems like airbags are required for driver and passenger's in the US. I'm not sure how the middle passenger in this...

    Front Row, middle seat airbag?

I am mostly interested in the cybertruck because it is a six seater, but where the heck are they going to put an airbag for the middle passenger in the front row? Depending on how the seat positioning works for the front bench, the screen could get pretty close to the middle passenger's face in...

I've also given up. They've tried numerous times and it always comes back and eventually gets louder.

New to Tesla...Is it really that bad?

As others of mentioned YMMV greatly with how many teslas are near you and individual service center. Tesla as a company doesn't seem to be run that well which is reflected in how sloppy some service centers are. If you win the Tesla lotteries of a near-perfect car and a good service center...

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Just happened at 12pm est. Starting at $48k after federal incentives, expected late 2020. That seems to put it right at the Model Y RWD LR. It also includes one year of free charging.

    Volvo XC40 EV?

That is concerning as my older vehicles with adaptive cruise got dicey when approaching curved higways. Thanks for your insight. The supply chain oriented legacy automakers is what's concerning me going forward because I've also dealt with BMW charging for stuff for nav updates. It will be...

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Anyone have extended experience with Pilot assist? I've been watching videos of it on youtube, but can't really deduce how close it is to basic AP. I've been told by friends that the Hyundai/Kias driver-assist suite is quite comparable to AP. AP has spoiled my family and it would be hard to go...

Plastic vibration noise inside coming from dash area

Yep mine would rattle when tapping on the grill also. Too bad the technicians at Tesla don't know how to tap on things. The service is supposed to have an internal tool and database so they can diagnose things faster based on past work. Looks like it doesn't work. Funny thing is that it's...

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Looks like the XC40 is going with Android Auto.... hopefully, they also have Apple car play as well as I've seen several manufacturers offering both. It would be kind of strange for Volvo to go all-in on Android Auto based on that user base they are targetting..... Ideally, I would prefer an...

Plastic vibration noise inside coming from dash area

I've been unfortunate to be stuck going to the Berkely service center. Whenever I try to make an appointment at another for issues caused at Berkeley, I keep getting re-routed back to Berkeley. Work order states the vent and the speaker grill, was replaced due to deformities. They probably did...

Plastic vibration noise inside coming from dash area

Yep, build quality and service is so bad I'm in the process of lemoning this poorly built pos. This company is just ridiculous incompetent. Unfortunately, We need them to stick around until the legacy manufacturers catch up and the market is big enough for them to continue to develop and build...

So what's the latest best practice to avoid AC smell happening in new car?

The way I understand it, especially with ICE vehicles, is to equalize the temperature between the hvac and the environment. Having your car on recirculating creates a cold and closed space while the environment is hot (especially the engine bays of ICE vehicles). If you shut your car off in...

So what's the latest best practice to avoid AC smell happening in new car?

During the last 5 minutes of driving, turn off ac, turn off recirculate, turn fans up to 7 or so. This brings in air from the outside To equalize the temperature difference between the environment and in the hvac system. This gives it a chance to dry out the evaporator.

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Seems like Polestar is using LG Chem as one of it's battery suppliers (like every other manufacturer) so it's probably 2021. Most likely Volvo will also LG chem, but they are also reportedly using a chinese supplier as well (CATL). It would be nice to see more competition hit the roads in 2020...

    Volvo XC40 EV?

The new platform/chassis is primarily what caught my attention. Unlike stuffing batteries in empty spaces of an existing ICE platform, this is apparently designed with BEV in mind. Guess we'll see in a couple weeks.

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Hmm I've also been keeping my eye on the used X market but a little wary about buying in at the price point with outdated MCU, AP, and the whole yellowing screen fiasco. A 2017 X with 2.5 hardware would be ideal but still quite expensive compared to new inventory right now expecially if...

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Anyone else excited to see the the reveal of the Volvo XC40 EV in a couple weeks? The ICE XC40 has gotten some great reviews for being pretty much the goldi-locks size for a compact crossover and a lot of quirks designed for small families. I'll most likely cross-shop this with the Y as they...

Is this Tesla’s consumer service? (Trying) ti buy a Model S

That's the Tesla gamble. Everyone's build quality and experiences differ with Tesla, but overall I think most would agree that Tesla's communication and operations is a complete crap. I'm at Tesla homebase (20 miles away from Fremont) and OP is in Spain. Depending on how far the service center...

Is this Tesla’s consumer service? (Trying) ti buy a Model S

Walk away now... I bought an inventory model 3 and my ownership experience with service and customer service has been so bad I got a lemon lawyer. It's been 6 months LOL Tesla is hyper-focused on sales right now and if they are still this bad at sales, imagine what service will be like in your...

    Owners service experience

I'm not up to date on Tesla's used system, but last I looked into it they're not cpo (certified pre owned) and we're being handled by multiple third party companies. You could view them on the Tesla site, but the rest was..... weird... Rich rebuilds on YouTube has a pretty hilarious couple...

    Owners service experience

That's the first time I've ever heard of this policy.... but who knows, polices change on a whim. Maybe an S/X owner complained to Elon about an influx of 3 owners taking up all the loaners. Maybe owning a "premium" version comes with a concierge service where somebody actually answers your...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

I actually feel the same that it's only a matter of time, maybe a couple of years max. I live 25 miles from Fremont and sucks to see the company turn out this way (the tech sector in general with these a-hole CEOs). Agile methodology works for software startups to a certain point in the business...

    Owners service experience

Many tout mobile service as a perk, but mobile rangers are limited in what they're able to do in your driveway/work. Most of these minor issues that they take care of can be ignored and fixed when it is convenient. My first ranger fix was passenger door window alignment (issue caused at a...

    Owners service experience

As others mentioned, it's all about location, individual service center, and number of Tesla's on the road. Here in the Bay Area, there are just too many Tesla's so service quality is absolutely the worst and there's never enough loaners (probably a handful at each SC outsoured to Enterprise)...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

eh?? Same for my model 3. The drivetrain has been great, everything else is garbage (especially service). I was referring to Rivian's skateboard that Amazon/Ford is investing in. People care about this news because variants of this skateboard are probably going to be used across Rivian's...

Rattle coming from front right passenger door

If this is the grill below the windshield, then I've been dealing with this issue with Tesla and it can be reproduced once the dash is warm (eg sitting in the sun or driving during the day for awhile). The passenger side has been fixed, but the idiots completely ignored the passenger side even...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

Ford & Amazon invested something like $700 million into Rivian this year, probably for the "skateboard" drivetrain. If Ford is going to put the F150 badge on a EV drivetrain that Rivian builds, there must be some input on something, but who knows what the arrangement is. All about that...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

  46. M

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

Awesome that your 2013 is without issues but it seems like things have changed at Tesla since then. Corners are being cut to hit numbers and aren't built like they used to be.
  47. M

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

Fair point, I guess I'm hoping Ford offers some help in Rivian's build quality as the drivetrain seems to be solid. The issues I've had with Tesla stems from poor build quality and then the poor service/workmanship afterwards so nothing gets fixed. Hands down the worst car buying and ownership...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

It kind of reminds of the old Chevrolet Avalanche that looked like a Tahoe with trunk spaced chopped off... more of a weekend warrior truck. Well that really sucks.... Hopefully, they don't go Tesla's route of focusing on sales/production numbers and leaving owners with the worst service in...

Tesla Truck vs other Trucks? Which would you get and why?

My next truck will be dependent on the service network because Tesla's service is atrocious in its own home base of the Bay Area. If Rivian's service is being done by Ford and the build quailty is better than current Tesla (not very difficult) the R1S is definitely going to be my next vehicle.
