    2023.20.7 Bricked 2014 Model S

Thankfully yours looked like it either completed the update before the 12v failed or the 3 has some more robust failsafes in place to prevent MCU damage. So weird that it was the exact same update too! Was yours the original 12v battery? If so, ours were probably around the same age, as I had...

    Supercharger - San Angelo, TX

I saw a post about this site from one of the local news stations and the comments were so ignorant and ill-informed about EVs lol Hopefully this location being here will increase visibility to EVs and curb some of the negativity.

    2023.20.7 Bricked 2014 Model S

Thank you all for the insight/suggestions! Just in case this happens to anyone else, and to serve as a cautionary tale, please make sure your 12v battery is good before doing a software update, especially on older Model S'. TL;DR: It was the 12v battery after all, and I had to get the MCU...

    2023.20.7 Bricked 2014 Model S

Pulled the frunk and feel really stupid now as the 12v was sitting at 10.3v... Looks like I'll have to grab a replacement and hope the car will recover on its own or at the very least. If not, hopefully Mobile Service can redeploy once the fresh battery is in. Just really odd that I didn't get...

    2023.20.7 Bricked 2014 Model S

I was thinking of calling them to see what they recommended. No visibility in the app or via the API at all. I could pull the frunk and get a multimeter on the 12v to see what’s going on. 12v was replaced in 08-2020 but I didn’t get any “low voltage battery needs replacement” or anything this...

    2023.20.7 Bricked 2014 Model S

EDIT: False alarm, it was more than likely my 12v battery that failed during the update.... TL;DR: After doing a software update this afternoon, my 2014 Model S is undrivable and unresponsive. Full details: Got a software update notification this afternoon to install 2023.20.7 and so, as...

The Mrs was at the Quarry last Thursday and took some completely unprompted pictures of the construction (I was surprised lol) Progress is really coming along, she said there were 6 stalls installed so far and more covered

Steering "Dead Zone" with 14' P85D

That is interesting! I looked back through my Service Center records and they never replaced the steering link on mine, only tightened the bolt on it. Last time I took out the frunk and had a look in there, mine definitely doesn't have the isolator either. Strange, as I've seen that Bjørn...

Hit a Pothole, Received Alignment, Car Still Pulls Right

I was still in the used vehicle warranty period at the time so it ultimately didn't cost me anything. I can't remember for sure, but I recall the "estimate" invoice being at least $2,500 before they determined if it would be covered under the warranty or not.

Tesla Offering $5,000 Trade-In Credit for "Classic" Model S

Yeah, maybe it would be closer to actual market value with the $5k, but still probably too low for me to consider. The last time I did a trade-in estimate, it was $28.5k, which is absolutely laughable and I'm sure it's even lower with this program in place now. Exactly 🤣 We make pretty frequent...

Tesla Offering $5,000 Trade-In Credit for "Classic" Model S

This morning I received an email from Tesla offering an additional $5,000 on my vehicles trade in value to "exchange" my unlimited free Supercharging miles. I have a super early P85D with the + suspension (heck even the struts say "prototype" lol) and FUSC has saved me over $1k in the nearly 4...

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Tesla Center San Antonio (Alamo Heights?)

Crossing my fingers that this will be opening soon, it's really coming along! The trip to Leon Springs isn't bad, but they are so overwhelmed that service has really been slipping there. Plus, this is like 3 minutes away from me lol From what I could see, they had pallets of...

Supercharger - San Antonio, TX - North Loop 1604 East

That network is so dilapidated, I forget it even exists. Back when I had a Leaf, I used it all the time as they had stations at almost every movie theater here and it was $30 for a year of unlimited charging. When the pandemic hit, they doubled the price to $60 and removed many of their...

Hit a Pothole, Received Alignment, Car Still Pulls Right

After doing some spirited driving on a mountain road, there was a spot that offered little resistance, most noticeable in AP. I made another post about it with more detail but it took about a half dozen trips to A) get them to actually acknowledge that it isn't "Standard Behavior" and B)...

Hit a Pothole, Received Alignment, Car Still Pulls Right

I was going to just take it to Firestone or something but found a shop relatively close by that specializes in suspension mods and race tuning. Hit a Pothole, Received Alignment, Car Still Pulls Right

Thanks for the suggestion and input! I did an extensive inspection yesterday, took the wheels off, checked all the bushings, checked for play, and nothing was abnormal so I was thinking it was probably just the alignment. I would just go back to Tesla but I'm approaching $700 worth of...

Hit a Pothole, Received Alignment, Car Still Pulls Right

TL;DR: Hit a pothole, got car aligned, car is still pulling to the right. What should I check? While travelling to the east coast from Texas, I hit a gnarly pothole which knocked my car out of alignment and slightly bent one of my turbine wheels (thankfully the tires were okay). To go straight...

    Clicking noise during turns

It could very well be, Tesla replaced my steering rack right before I started hearing this so maybe the one they replaced it with was faulty or at least missing the shims. Without the frunk removed, it sounds pretty much exactly like the video in this thread...

    Clicking noise during turns

Does it make the sound when you're standing still? I just came back from a road trip and at very low speeds, my car is making a very similar sound to yours. I only really notice it when turning the wheel quite a bit in either direction which makes for very annoying parking lot maneuvers. I...

    CCS Adapter for North America

It looks like EA actually has some 500A chargers out there now according to the folks in this thread: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/testing-ccs1-adapter-on-my-myp-in-new-england.264727/ Although determining which one is which would take some investigation around the charging hardware.

    CCS Adapter for North America

149kW, that's amazing! I bet your pack was way warmed up better than mine, it was 94°F here during the charge (no preconditioning as well). We had just been running some errands around town but stopped to visit with some friends for around an hour before going to charge.

    CCS Adapter for North America

Providing another CCS1 adapter charging data point: Got to test my CCS1 adapter yesterday at an Electrify America. The stall was a 150kW stall and I charged from 30% - 90% in 34 minutes. I didn't monitor what the station said I was getting, but the Model Y said it peaked at 128kW @ 41% and...

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I finally got around to testing the adapter on my 2014 Model S and had a similar experience to @GHammer. Transferrable Supercharging?

Very curious about this as well since my 2014 has the SC01 code and I've considered selling it. My MVPA also just lists Free Supercharging. To further muddy the waters, the Tesla Supercharger Fair Use Policy mentioned "free Supercharging for the lifetime of vehicle ownership" This at least...

I just happened to be on the county website for something else and noticed a pretty robust property map. Steering "Dead Zone" with 14' P85D

It worries me how quickly the Service Manager of all people did it too... Sad for sure. That would make sense about the steering rack being the source of the popping. CCS adapter compatibility for legacy Teslas in the US

Curious about this as well! Coincidently, the Tesla Korea store just got some CCS1 adapters in stock last night and I had a friend in Korea pick one up for me. My Model Y lists "CCS adapter support: Enabled" while my '14 Model S says "CCS adapter support: Not installed" My optimistic side is...

I posted about this in another thread but I actually made a video a few weeks ago with a J1772 Wall Connector that I got off eBay (before they were publicly sold) and tested load sharing with a HPWC. That’s great, glad that you got yours fixed (and that it wasn’t the steering rack)! thanks too for the video as now I’m going to go back and check mine with the borescope once I return back from my trip. Steering "Dead Zone" with 14' P85D

Oh wow, that certainly adds some complexity to this lol Honestly, I was wondering how to do this since the drive motor, 12v battery, and several other large components are right in front of/on top of it. That's one of the reasons I used borescope to diagnose it as it's remarkably hard to even...

After inspecting the bolt and seeing that play, I'm definitely not going to be driving it until I get it fixed. Steering "Dead Zone" with 14' P85D

In order to investigate a little more closely, I got out my borescope and turned the wheel. Here are videos I shot...

Steering "Dead Zone" with 14' P85D

So after taking the frunk out this weekend, I think I was able to determine what the issue is.
