2017 Model X 75D with Dual Motor Badge?

Thanks for all the replies! Was not aware you could show ideal range so that explains the in dash number being so high. @Harvey Danger I did some math on it and clearly did it backwards so I appreciate the breakdown. Definitely confirms that this is not being presented accurately. Have decided...

2017 Model X 75D with Dual Motor Badge?

I know right? And I’m confident the badging has been added after. But were there any 100D batteries ever sold that were software locked to 75?

2017 Model X 75D with Dual Motor Badge?

Looking for advice on a used Model X that has some conflicting info. Listing here: 2017 Used Model x I’ve attached some additional pics from the dealership below. While I’m confident this is a 75D, I can‘t figure out why it has Dual Motor Badging on the back (I thought that was only on Raven...

The Adventures of Gray Matter + Soufflé

Thank you for the detailed response! I’m not 100% sold that the X package is worth the cost and potential reduction range hit but I’m excited to hear more of @wreighven adventures!

The Adventures of Gray Matter + Soufflé

Thank you for sharing, especially the wh/m. Since the X package on your Basecamp includes a 3 inch lift, do you think foregoing that would improve mileage even further? Or is the 3 inch height difference negligible? (Still trying to understand all the factors that can affect range when towing!)

Does Canada get all the features of 2019.40.50.1?

Unless I’m mistaken you can just hotspot from your phone.

Does Canada get all the features of 2019.40.50.1?

Did not know this, have been trying to reason with myself that FSD upgrade is worth it but with HW2.5 and now this, I feel better not having it for now. Another reason why the FSD cost is difficult to justify. Not saying all features won’t come to Canada eventually, but with limited/no winter...

Whiteout blizzard conditions: Autopilot or FSD?

Northern Alberta and same experience here. Even when I get a bit of road line visible the car wants to swerve to what it perceives the middle of the lane, which involves driving typically into a snow bank (or at least snow build up on the road). I love AP, but am hesitant to upgrade to FSD if it...

FSD via monthly subscription in the future?

I used to think that this would be a silly financial idea for Tesla, until I drove my Model 3 in the snow and realized you can’t even activate Autopilot. So considering 5-6 months out of the year I wouldn’t be be able to turn on FSD, I’d have a real hard time paying 9.2k (Canadian) for it. Just...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Hmm. Seems silly they would add a whole upgrades menu just for this one item. Hopefully more “upgrades” are incoming. That said I manually updated my app and don’t have an option for upgrades (that I can find). SR+ so no acceleration boost here, which makes sense.

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Visible in my account as well, no option to pay. I have an SR+ though so that contradicts it being dual motor only.

    Got a SR+ in September without HW3.0?

Thank you for the correction. My SR+ is a March build so definitely HW2.5. No cones for me!
  14. Jffurlan

    Got a SR+ in September without HW3.0?

Your car most likely has HW3.0. Unless I’m mistaken, cones only show up when using Navigate on Autopilot. If you don’t have FSD, you won’t see cones.

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

I have seen none of these issues in -15C, non heated garage and outdoor parking while at work. Maybe service can look at some of the issues? They definitely don’t sound normal.

Best Method of Home Charging for SR+?

Any chance you could explain this? What difference does the HPWC provide in those situations?

Best Method of Home Charging for SR+?

14-50 with Tesla Cable Organizer. Cable Organizer In 9 months of ownership I’ve yet to unplug the mobile charger from the wall. The wall connector is nice but provides no benefit to an SR+.

Changed Order from 3P+ to SR+, Am I Crazy?

We definitely must have different commutes because I’ve yet to see a snowflake on the battery despite being parked outdoors all day at work. Yesterday was -14 and my vampire drain throughout the day was no worse than summer. Regen is almost always limited in an SR+, and it definitely is worse in...

Changed Order from 3P+ to SR+, Am I Crazy?

The SR+ has to be the most practical car one could buy today. Even in northern Canada, I have not for one second regretted not buying the LR demo car that cost 10k more (been -10C the past week and have barely seen a range hit). The 3P may be more fun, but that depends on how often you’ll take...

8 days from Order to delivery

I had to wait 11 days for delivery when I ordered my SR+ in March (Canada). I thought that was rough. Don’t think I could handle 10 weeks. Any reason for the crazy delays?

    Lifetime Wh/mi

SR+, 6,195km. 130Wh/km (208Wh/mile). was 125Wh/km (200Wh/mile) before winter set in. Been slowly climbing as the temps have consistently been around -10C to 0C.

Selling a trip across the Trans Canada Highway

Having driven from Vancouver to Whitehorse before (sadly not in a Model 3) I can absolutely appreciate your desire to go across Canada. There are so many beautiful sights to see and little gems to stop at. While a little old, you should check out www.teslaxcanada.com. They took their X and a...

Standard AutoPilot needs to switch lanes

The biggest problem I have with paying almost $10,000 cdn for FSD is that there are so many features that just aren’t always available. NoAP? Maybe, if you’re on the right highway. Smart Summon? Not in BC, and only in certain parking lots. Snow? Won’t even engage eliminating 5-6 months of use in...

How much did you pay for your 50 Amp Outlet?

$799 Canadian to install myself (with permits). Had to run 6/3 wire length of house plus underground conduit to garage. Installed subpanel in garage with a 60A breaker in main panel, 40A in garage. SR+ takes 32A max so it works perfect.

Scheduled Departure - does it warm the battery?

My SR+ gets no noticeable regen boost from running climate on “Hi” before leaving. Most I’ve ever done is 20-30 minutes, although when the car only takes three minutes to get warm that’s all I’ll typically do.

    Back seat dog cover

I went with this one and it works great. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0797MVPVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5.v1DbMJ1XC2Z Not sure how or if you’ll be able to find one that works for a single seat so you can still have the bench for your kids. Might have to get a full size and cut it/sew it to fit.
  27. Jffurlan

Scheduled Departure - does it warm the battery?

Under optimal temperatures it might, but it seems that in cold regions it doesn’t account for a reduced charging rate.

Scheduled Departure - does it warm the battery?

While I can’t say for certain, I can share what happened when I used it with temps below/around 0 Celsius on my a Model 3 SR+: - scheduled departure for 5:30 AM - starts charging at 4:50 AM at 2kW due to colder temps and colder battery (car was at 90% and had dropped to 87% overnight while...

New Model 3 Owner. FSD worth it or not?

Sigh, while this wouldn’t surprise me I just can’t see the justification. This would also mean that in the span of a year it increased in price by 250% (from discounted Feb 2019 price). Has the feature set really improved that much?

    Windows venting on their own?

Was -10, parked the car and walking into work. Checked to make sure climate was off and saw “close” in app. Thought maybe I had opened a window when exiting so I hit “close”. Icon changed to “vent”. Later that day on my lunch I checked the app and saw “close” again. Thought this was weird so I...

  32. Jffurlan

    Is this consumption normal

I find if I preheat the car for 5-10 minutes it maintains the temperature pretty well for short drives. Still need to turn on the cool air to defrost the windows (or roll them down slightly and briefly to vent the warm condensation). Doing this I got 126 Wh/km on a 10km trip when it was -10C...

New Model 3 Owner. FSD worth it or not?

And as I’ve recently learned (but am not surprised by), as soon as there is even the lightest dusting of snow AP is no longer available as it can’t see the lines. So paying $9,200 for a feature that works only 6 months of the year? And only on certain roads? Tough sell. I’ll say it again: I...

New Model 3 Owner. FSD worth it or not?

Yup. It’s quite expensive for the current available features.
  35. Jffurlan

New Model 3 Owner. FSD worth it or not?

This. We had our first dusting of snow last week (AB) my Model 3 refused to activate AP because it couldn’t see the road lines. With the already limited features FSD brings, I still think it has to be years away before it is truly viable. And then you’ve got to worry about regulatory approval...

    Installing 240v Outlet

One important note: SR+ can charge at 32 Amps LR can charge at 48 Amps. You will need a HPWC for this, otherwise the Gen 2 Mobile Connector with 14-50 adapter will only do 32 Amps. My suggestion would be that if the install is cheap (close to the panel), you essentially get a free HPWC with...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

Does anyone have a visual indicator of this? I know what it looks like on a Model S, but have yet to see this in my Model 3. Been experimenting with different charge methods to find the best way to optimize the battery. My conclusion was that when it’s only charging at 4kW instead of 8kW it...

M3 sr plus winter range question

You’re absolutely right. My results are not typical and very indicative of my situation. No one is getting 600km, but 400km, even 410km is possible. I think the 386km is incredibly accurate, and so far have not seen the extra consumption from colder temps I was expecting. But a longer commute...

M3 sr plus winter range question

It is shockingly efficient. My average over almost 6,000km is 127 Wh/km, and that only just went up about two weeks ago due to the temps dropping. During the summer my commute to work was typically 85-95 Wh/km in city driving. Even now with 0 degrees and negative temps I only go over the rated...

EAP on window sticker but I didn’t pay for it, it worked initially and then didn’t

You could see if they could honour the price of EAP on your Monroney? They don’t sell EAP anymore but if you want both maybe they’ll use that as a starting point?
  41. Jffurlan

M3 sr plus winter range question

What’s your current Wh/km? Even at 0 degrees Celsius, I was getting 101 Wh/km while doing 80km/h and had the temp set to 22 degrees. I did accidentally have the AC on but it was still warm air. That is better range than the rated 140 Wh/km. Btw, does anyone else use the AC in the winter with...

EAP on window sticker but I didn’t pay for it, it worked initially and then didn’t

I went through an identical situation, and unfortunately you never had autopilot. There is (to my knowledge) nothing legally binding about the Monroney. Your analogy of the wheels is also inaccurate because this is software not hardware. My Monroney said I had autopilot despite not paying for...

    Model 3 Wh/km

I do both and find highway is usually a little higher because my commute isn’t very long. In fact, it’s short enough you could probably just call it city driving lol. While weather plays a huge part, I find the SR+ has severely limited regen (even in the summer I never started a drive without...

    299km at 80%

I also only use percent view and never worry about range. That said, after reading this thread I checked my rated range. At 75% charge my SR+ showed 292km. So it looks like my 100% would still be 386km. Side note: when I did switch the view to range instead of percent displayed my 7km drive...

    Model 3 Wh/km

SR+ 5,525 km 126 Wh/km Even with recent almost 0 degree temps, I find if I charge 10% in the morning before work (from 70-80% soc) my commute is typically sub 120 Wh/km. I’m summer it was low 90’s. Even with occasional trips with heat I’m seeing 143 Wh/km. Be interesting to see what happens...

    long range battery

I love my SR+ and have not once regretted getting the shorter range. - Destination chargers are everywhere. Even in northern Canada. And Superchargers are abundant on major routes, never more than 200km apart (for routes I would drive). - SR+ is more efficient. I’m averaging 126 Wh/KM (202...

Sr+ charged to 70% at pickup. Regen dots

My SR+ always has dots when I first leave regardless of my charge level, temperature, or if I just finished charging. Rarely do I get rid of them. Thought this was normal until a coworker with LR was shocked I ever had limited regen. That being said, even if I have 40-50% regen, the green bar...

    Newbie Question

One thing to also consider is charging rate when you’re at home: SR+ can only charge at 32A, or 8kW (roughly 14% battery per hour or 50km per hour). So with your commute you’re looking at 3 hour charge per day, minimum. LR can charge at 48A with the Tesla HPWC (Silver Wall Connector). This...
