    Charge topping off every hour?

Did you have 8.3 or 8.4 before upgrading to 8.5?

    Charge topping off every hour?

What's your vampire drain rate? Is your car leaving idle to enter sleep?

    Why would someone do this?

As I was reading your post, my peripheral vision interpreted your avatar as a Model 3 with an after-market wing on the trunk, rather than one parked in front of a supercharger. I was just reaching for my head to give it a scratch about the wisdom of that modification...

    Charge topping off every hour?

So... It was TeslaFi. I ran the same test last night. Charged to 80%, unplugged at 8:45pm and left the car alone until 8:45am, after which time there was 1 mile of range loss. That 1 mile could be normal vampire drain, or even just variation in measurement. The only change I made from the...

    Charge topping off every hour?

So... I tried a few more things to better understand the behavior I'm seeing. First, I let the car charge to 70% a couple of nights ago, then moved the desired SoC slider down to 60%, and left the car plugged in overnight. No notifications. My conclusion then, was that this behavior isn't...

    Charge topping off every hour?

Insightful. I did setup Teslafi on Thursday afternoon. That could well be "pinging" the car regularly. I could imagine the car waking up to feed data to them and starting a quick charge each time. I'd bet this is what's going on. I might continue this way for a couple more days, then...

    Charge topping off every hour?

No. After plugging in I just went on about my business and found these alerts waiting for me in the morning.

    Charge topping off every hour?

Same as last night, but at 70% Unless someone thinks this a big deal, I guess I'll just roll along with it for now?

    Charge topping off every hour?

I genuinely appreciate your concern! A few thoughts/questions on this: 1. Mine is a LR RWD, so this charge level represents 90%. My understanding had been that 70% was most ideal set-point for nightly charging, but 80 or 90% were only marginally "less good." Indeed, when I picked the car up...

    Charge topping off every hour?

Thanks for your reply. I got 5.15 Wednesday afternoon when I got home from the delivery center and then 8.3 later that night. I did connect to my home WiFi on Wednesday evening after finishing the update to 5.15 in the hopes that 8.3 would come, as it indeed did.

    Charge topping off every hour?

I picked up my LR RWD on Wednesday and plugged its UMC into the 14-50r in my garage last night for the first time. The car wasn't terribly depleted, so charging was complete within a couple of hours. When I woke up this morning, I noticed a string of notifications from the Tesla app showing a...

    LR RWD Waiting Room

Got a call on the morning of 3/27 (yesterday) to say that my car had arrived from Phoenix and could be picked up any time. Took delivery yesterday at 3pm. No major quality issues observed, although it seems that the doors take significant effort to close properly. I'll drive another couple of...

Am at a loss: is the $2k FSD offer going away on Monday?

One of my neighbors bought an M3 last year without EAP or FSD. He loves the car but really doesn't know that much about it. I was over there a couple of weeks ago looking at his car before I made my buying decision on 3/14 and mentioned the discounted availability of AP/FSD. He had no idea -...

    LR RWD Waiting Room

Ordered MSM w/ black interior, aeros, and FSD on 3/14 (about 15 minutes after the Model Y unveiling). Got an automated SMS on 3/17 with a delivery appointment set for 3/26 at 6pm at my home. Call from my local salesman on 3/19 saying he had found a 2019 VIN (313,XXX) with exact match to my...

How much can the Model 3 tow? (Towing capacity)

I'm not disagreeing with your supposition, but I will say that pulling power is almost never the limiting factor for tow ratings. Suspension and tow-vehicle tires' ability to support typical (10% of total) tongue weight and braking are both likely to be more important...

    Final decision before ordering

Thanks, all, for taking the time to provide your thoughts. I watched the Model Y reveal last night and then pulled the trigger on a RWD w/ FSD. For me, the RWD will be the fastest car I've owned, and should be plenty enough for most of the driving I do. Coming from the Volt, I don't expect it...

    Final decision before ordering

If you don't like reading long posts, you can read the parts in bold and skip the rest! I've been a very satisfied Chevrolet Volt owner for the past 6 years, and since GM announced the end of that nameplate I have been considering Teslas to replace. I've spent the past several months building a...
