Überturbine tire change

I love these rims and not too concerned with the range reduction, but I am concerned with potential rim damage. Since the factory tire for these rims is 255/35r21, would moving up to a 255/40 or 255/45 tire be a possibility? It may provide a little more protection the rim but not sure if there would be enough clearance in the wheel well to accommodate the larger tire.

Has anyone else thought about doing this with the Überturbine wheels?

Uberturbine factory wheel & tire specs:
21x9.5+40 255/35-21 (outer diameter = 28.0")
21x10.5+48 275/35-21 (outer diameter = 28.5")

If you switch to a 255/40-21 up front, you'll have a 29.0" outer diameter (3.5% larger than factory). We usually don't recommend going beyond a ±3% outer diameter from factory. There will be clearance with a 245/40-21, but your speedometer is likely to be giving you the wrong speed.

This size is simply going to be a repeat of what many (but not all) Model S owners experienced on their 21": problems

PS: at the time / date of this post, there's überlimited tire choices in the factory tire size / load / speed rating as well. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Pirelli P Zero TO (which isn't even available in the aftermarket yet), which is basically Great Summer Tire & Good Summer Tire.:D

Michelin will be manufacturing an All Season 21" staggered fitment, but likely delayed due to global pandemic. They will also be manufacturing a Pilot Sport EV tire in the factory 20" tire size 255/40-20.
