Hey all, first post here. I came here for insight since I can't seem to get anything good from Tesla or from the subreddit.
Shortly after taking delivery of my MYP back in September, I noticed that when I drove in heavy rain, water collects along the trunk sill on the inside of the weather seal. I also noticed drops of water coming in from around the sides of the trunk close/open button.
So, I started a long, unsuccessful process with Tesla to figure out what is going on.
1st visit at Toledo, OH Service Center:
The technician told me there is a known issue with trunk leaks. They took the inside trunk panel off and "sealed" it better. They had it for a full day, so I assume they did what they said. They were very courteous and friendly. Unfortunately, the next time I drove in heavy rain, I notice the same water collecting on the trunk sill inside the car.
2nd visit at Toledo, OH Service Center:
After having my car for a few hours, they called me to come pick it up and said that the leak was due to a body panel alignment issue and that they do not do body work at that location. They said I would need to go to Clarkston, MI location for repairs.
1st visit at Clarkston, MI Service Center:
After having my car for about an hour, they told me that they could not identify any leaks. They said that sprayed "an Amazon amount of water" on the trunk and did not see any leaking. They said it was probably just from opening and closing the trunk after it rains. To me, that doesn't make sense, as there was water coming out from the trunk button.
2nd visit at Clarkston, MI Service Center:
They had the car for maybe 15 minutes before they escorted me to the service bay to show me this "Amazon amount" of water they sprayed on it, which was just a garden hose. They said I should just keep a rag in the trunk and wipe it up when I see the water. They could not explain why there was indication of water coming from around the trunk button.
Now that I have driven the car through the winter, I noticed that there is a ring of salt all around the trunk button. I have a hard time seeing that as normal. My concern now is electrical problems with the trunk button if water intrusion is present.
I have a 5th appointment tomorrow (3rd at Clarkston) and they are trying to charge me a $26 diagnostic fee to look at my trunk lid again!!
Does anyone have any tips for this situation? Experienced trunk leaks and actually had Tesla fix them? I'm at a loss at this point.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
