Mr. Dunholter was far ahead of his time. Owning an EV1, meeting co-founder (contested I know) Martin Eberhard, and putting down $50k without knowing whether a car would be delivered...
In reading up on Mr. Dunholter, it would appear that he was on the cutting edge of aviation technology and doesn't surprise me that he was willing to get in on EV technology during its infancy.
