Whoever you get your panels from will eventually need your account number and all of your information. At the minimum, they have to submit interconnection applications and obtain permits on your behalf. In many states they'll sign you up for net metering and register you with various green energy programs as well.
In the beginning, you don't have to give them any information that you don't want to give. I'm sure anyone who wants your business will do their best with what they have. Just know that things in the original quote, like system size or rebate estimates, are likely to be wrong and probably won't be honored.
Once you decide to pull the trigger, be prepared to hand it all over and let them do their job. You're putting these people in charge of turning your home into a power plant... If you can't trust them with your historical power consumption data or don't want them having access to your account so they can work directly with your power company, you should seriously consider finding a different installer.
