Most of the car loans I looked at previously were limited to $100k, for some reason.

It depends on your income, assets and credit. Most home mortgages conform to Fannie Mae limits, which are relatively small. Doesn’t mean you can’t finance a $10 million dollar home. Same with high end cars. It’s just a different segment of the industry.
