Boone, NC - 4 Wheel Drive?

Next week I was planning to drive up the mountains for the week in Boone, NC. I'd prefer to bring my Model S (not 4 wheel drive) but it was recommended that in the winter season that we bring a vehicle that is.

Anyone familiar with that area this time of year believe a Model S would be OK or should we bring the ICE 4-wheel?

While snow is possible this time of year in WNC, 4wd is not needed based on the current weather. We haven't had any snow so far this year in the higher elevations of WNC or Northeast TN. I still have summer tires on my model S.
