So the Boring Co is clearly just a test run for building subterranean domiciles on Mars.....so why are they just for cars on Earth?

I'd like to see TBC Developments dig three nice parallel tunnels from Manhattan to NJ. EV-only expressways on either side, and luxury condos in the middle tunnel.

What about underground Pedestrian and Bike paths with restaurants and shops lining the underground path

Keep in mind that one of the ways The Boring Company keeps tunnel prices low is to make small tunnels that are just wide enough for a single automobile lane.
This would make for very narrow condos and cars stopping to pick up condo dwellers would block the main lanes.
It would take a lot more than 3 tunnels to do what is proposed but it is an interesting notion -- not that I'd be happy living with that much water over my head.
