Buying/transferring reservation for Plaid

In the market for a plaid and my first Tesla. Found someone selling their reservation for $1500 that secured the vehicle before the $10k increase.
Seller is stating its an easy transfer with him just transfer the email on the reservation.
Anyone ever done this and believe it's worth the trouble? Basically I'll be saving $8500 but can't make any changes to the way he spec the plaid.

I wouldn’t take the seller’s word for it. Check with Tesla before doing anything. I’m not saying the seller might be lying, but he might have been misinformed.

Looks like the seller found a buyer locally. If anyone wants to sale their plaid order (discounted preorder price) please let me know.
