Car map vs app map?

Anyone know why the map interface in the car is Google maps but the map interface associated with the location in the app is an Apple map (at least on my iPhone)?

Seems odd that Tesla would mix map services for this related function. Just curious.

Probably because not everyone will have Google Maps installed on their iPhone, so it uses the default map software that's on the phone.

On my Android it uses Google Maps. Maybe your phone is broken?

Pretty sure it just uses the API of whatever the default map app is on the phone.

This now makes sense, since Apple Maps has my home address and GOOGLE/Tesla Nav does not and we have lived in our new home for 37 months.
