Carfax says 40k miles, screen says 20k miles!?

So I'm talking with a dealer about 4 year old model s. Carfax says ~40k miles and this is what the dealer is listing. But the odometer on the tesla screen says ~20k miles. The vin on the screen and the Carfax matches. dealer has no idea why and is pricing the car based on the higher miles. Any idea what's going on here or if I should be concerned?

What is the source of carfax mileage report? My X5M with 53k miles went to the dealer for service and they misreported the mileage as 106k to carfax. It took the dealer to issue a correction with carfax to fix the discrepancy. Mistakes happen.

I'm glad you asked. I looked at the Carfax sources and low and behold...source is the dealer. Lol.
