Not totally certain where in the center console you might be referring. If the fell down under the center armrest, take out the center cup holder dividers, close the rear pivoting door, and you can fish you hand back in a little ways. I believe you need to remove a couple screws but you can remove the floor of the rear portion right in front of the center armrest which maybe will give you better access to the rear section.
If it's up towards the front, under the dash, then you there is a little cubbie right below the center screen above the center console. You can pop out the cubby (takes a bit of a firm pull to pop it off). The diagnostic connector that service uses is behind that, but it will also allow you to then have access down into the open area in front of the center console. Many times people leave credit cards on the center console and the end up sliding into the front compartment if the have to make a quick stop. This is the way to retrieve those.
