CPO Delivery Time and Need Advice on Repairs

I placed my order and deposit on a used Model S in Seattle on the night of December 15th, 2018. The following day, I uploaded all requested documents in the Tesla My Account Portal. This included my Trade-In documents, along with Insurance and Driver's Licenses information.

On Monday, December 17th, a Tesla Used Car Salesman contacted me in regards to my order to let me know that my Delivery Specialist would be reaching out to me within 24-48 hours.

On Wednesday afternoon, December 19th, my Delivery Specialist reached out to confirm details on Title and that she will request to have the vehicle moved for delivery/pick up soon after.

The CPO that was purchased was in Seattle, and I was planning for a Seattle delivery as well.

On Friday, December 21st, my DS reached out late Friday evening to schedule a delivery date and time. I was informed that we had to schedule 48 hours out. My appointment was scheduled for Monday, December 24th (Christmas Eve).

In regards to time frames, from the date of Reservation/Deposit to Delivery, it took a total of 10 days, or 6 business days. This was much quicker than anticipated, compared to all the horror stories I've been reading online prior to making my purchase.

However, and a BIG however. They RUSH you through the delivery process. I'm not sure if this is done because they really are that busy (Specialist said there were 3 people behind me waiting to take delivery). or if they just want you out without having the chance to fully inspect the car.

I noticed there was a HUGE scrape, on the lower front bumper (looks like it was curbed) that was not shown in the initial photos. It's about the size of a mini football. I requested to have this repaired, since I showed the specialist the initial photos and we both agreed that this was NOT included. He checked with the "back" and stated that they would fix this, but usually, CPO's are sold as is.

Has anyone had any experience with a CPO repair after delivery. What needs to be done to get this completed, and who do I reach out to?

I’m in a similar situation. I had three rock chips on the front windshield, one of which can’t be filled according to Safelite, small but deep scratches on the rear bumper and some scratches on the front fascia. Funny part is, they did upload photos of the scratches to the front fascia but it was after I already put a down payment. I caught this, checked the meta data on the images and sure enough, they were taken after I put money down. My used card sales advisor said he spoke with his manager and the service center would be able to replace it. I received the vehicle and have not been able to get a hold of my used car sales advisor. Service center said they can’t do anything unless he puts in a due bill. After a lot of other thrash, I was finally able to get in contact with my “Inside Delivery Agent” (person who contacted me first about the delivery of the vehicle) and I’m coordinating with her now. Her manager approved the repair of the rear bumper since it was not disclosed in the photo, they asked for more photos of the front windshield and the front fascia issue I’m working now. Originally I was told since the damages were disclosed in the photos I was sent, they couldn’t repair it but I dug up all of my previous conversations with the used car sales rep to prove otherwise.

TLDR: Have your Inside Delivery Agent (or anyone else that has the ability) create a due bill to have the damage(s) repaired. Once they do, they should notify you and you can bring your vehicle to the service center for the repair. If you just show up to the service center, they’ll look at you like you’re crazy.

Edit: Do you have a photo of the damage? Just for my curiosity. I also have a pretty big scrape but it’s on the black plastic trim on the lower part of the bumper, so I’m not too concerned.

Here's a photo of the damage in question. All photos were taken at a high angle to hide this. This was not seen until Delivery day. They did show 2 other small scratches, but I don't care about those because I already knew they were there.

Thanks for the advice. I printed the dropbox page with all of the photos just in case they try to add it later. I'll reach out to my Inside DA now. I did schedule a service appointment on my own, but I will probably just cancel that appointment.

Ah, yeah that's basically identical to mine except I have the pre-facelift Model S so it's not as noticeable since that part is the black plastic trim. Yeah, definitely get in touch with your Inside DA and get them to submit a due bill to the service center. Otherwise, you'll just waste time going to the service center to be told they can't do anything for you. Congrats on the car!
