Do you guys actually precondition your car for one hour every morning for cold weather?

Hello all. Upon reading, I find that Tesla recommend precondition car for one hour before driving (see statement below). That seems like a long time. Do you guys actually precondition your car that long for below freezing temp driving?


What should I know about driving in cold weather?

No. Probably 10 minutes for me.

but I do try to have it finish charging right before I leave, this also helps.

Nope, I want to keep my ~60 cents in my pocket, I'm cheap! No actually I am lazy, I don't even wake up an hour before I leave in the morning. I pre-heat the cabin for about 10 minutes but that is about it for me.

I use TeslaFi to turn the climate on at 5AM on weekdays. I'm usually on the road by 5:30, but if I'm not on the road before 6AM then I set TeslaFi to turn the climate off.

I have a longer than normal commute so I'll usually charge from 90->95% when I wake up if it's cold outside (45 mins before leaving) and pre-heat the cabin for 10 minutes before.

I think they only suggest the hour long pre-heat so that full regen is added but you usually get that back within 20 minutes of driving anyways.
