Effect of the eclipse on solar radiation. There was 70% coverage in my area.

Similar coverage here and you could see it was darker and much cooler.

Another cool thing was the dappled sunlight through trees - all acted like little pin hole cameras, so there were millions of little crescents!

Here in SoCal where we were over 1,000 miles from the full eclipse we still had a good drop in solar production by about 1/4 of what it would be during the same time.

What are those red circles and how do you get them to appear on the graph?

I drove a couple of hours in the Y to where it was a full ring of fire, and it was very cool to see. Definitely lower light intensity, my SO described it as the kind of light you'd see in the greenish cast in the shadows of a thunderstorm. No scientific data from me, but yes a very definite hit on solar production for a hour or two time range is very plausible to me!
