Looks like LG recently released a new full-sized stand-alone heat pump dryer, model DLHC5502 that takes the championship for efficiency in that size.

Per Energy Star Metrics:
Drum Capacity (cu-ft): 7.8
Ventless
Combined Energy Factor (CEF): 9.0
Estimated Annual Energy Use (kWh/yr): 266
Refrigerant with GWP: R-134a (GWP:1430)
Date Available on Market: 2023-10-02 (but still mostly a ghost model on web searches)

Good to see prices coming down. This was $1500 half a year ago, currently $1200 with free delivery locally. Enough reviews now to show they've also worked the bugs out.

Compared to conventional vented dryers, this LG HeatPump dryer uses up to 65% less energy to dry every load.

It should be able to go lower. You can get LG heat pump dryers in the UK for under $900 (based on £850, deduct 20% VAT and apply 1.25 exchange rate.)
That £850 is for wifi-enabled fancier ones. There are other cheaper models.

This is about the new full sized "American" ones [see above Drum Capacity (cu-ft): 7.8]. The small "European"/apartment sized heat pump units have been around for much longer and at a significantly lower price, including here in the States.

We have a Samsung heat pump dryer in our retirement cottage. Smaller version.
Works great but somewhat slower than gas dryer. Only uses 800watts when running and no outside vent so that heat stays in the house in winter. We live in the mountains so don't use a\c in summer. Just open windows.
