Foam tape for Gemini hubcaps

I am powder coating my wheels this weekend. And I heard the stock hub caps can damage the wheels. I will daily drive with the hub caps off, and I plan on putting the hub caps on for longer road trips with the family. Had anyone ever posted a guide on where to exactly apply the foam tape on the hub cap to not damage the alloy rims?

How about try putting XPEL Clear Universal Door Edge Guard (or similar) on the small areas where the clips will snap on? just a thought

Thanks for the suggestion. But I am going to pay $900 to get my rims powder coated so I want a proven method that works.

If you're going to powder coat your wheels, why put the hubcaps back on? I used aftermarket hubcaps and put gaffers tape on the clips.

Why spend all that money powder coating? Get some aftermarket hubcaps...the ones that look like wheels.

I don't like how the inner alloy shows.

You can spray a little plastikote inside the wheel to hide that. I don't care enough to bother. My car is brand new. Soon the alloy won't be so bright. Lol.

Personally, I think a decent set of caps will look better than the naked wheel, even if you paint them.
