I noticed the other day, after the latest SW update, I can no longer adjust the following distance below 2 car lengths. Is that a change. Yes....I know 3 car lengths is taught in driving school but this is NJ.
I am pretty sure that tesla vision only lets you set a follow distance of 2 car lengths, and pretty much all model 3s and Ys that have hardware 3 have been transitioned to tesla vision.
Search TMC for "Tesla vision" and grab a cup of coffee or two.
Those aren't really seconds or car lengths... but what Tesla should have done is rework the numbers so it remained 1-7, even if the new "1" was the old "2".

That would have been noticed by a bunch of people, then tweeted about, youtubed, and dozens of threads created about how tesla was lying about the following distance by changing it in the manner you mention.

When I got my Y in Feb 2022 you could go to 1. but following an update the lower distance settings went to 2. so for me, driving on a lot of UK motorways, all it means that that Muppets undertake you and jump into the gap in front of you - arrgghhh!
