Forged wheels… necessary?

Looking at new rims right now.
Forged or not. Does it really matter for normal day to day? No track. Thoughts on this?

Lighter is generally better, whether on the track or on the commute.

To answer your question, no, it's not necessary to go forged. The key thing to pay attention to is the weight rating. And you can keep the weight down for a lot cheaper than forged by going with flow formed. Sure, they might be a few pounds heavier than forged, but they are a good happy medium for weight and cost.

Forged is about less weight but about 4x the price of rotary forged/flow formed lighter weight aftermarket rims.
