Well, looks like it's S85 sale night, so price on this has been reduced to $76,000 :).

Katy, did you sell the car? Surprised not much activity on this as thought it was a pretty good deal. My wife tell me we need to keep saving, plus getting bunch of work done on the house.

Curious if you take it to AutoNation (Tesla's 'trusted trade partner') what they'd give you?

Does anyone know how sales tax works with buying a used car out of state? I live in California, so do they charge an "import tax" when I bring it in state?

Edit: I found the fee calculator on the CA DMV site (Vehicle Registration Fee Calculator) . Basically, I pay local Sales tax minus any amount of sales tax paid in DC.

@liuping, I paid sales tax on full price of the car, if that's what you're asking.

You just pay the sales tax in your state. In Nevada we are lucky on private party sales we do not have to pay sales tax just the yearly registration. That's what I like most about this S but I still cannot pull it around for the banks to agree.

Sadly I would have to pay sales tax again here 8%) on the private sale. Seems a bit weird since any other item sold privately does not have sales tax.
