Higher top speed on Performance only in USA?

I noticed that the S and X performance models have a top speed of 163 mph compared to the normal 155 mph. But that’s only the case on the American site - all other countries shows 155 mph (250 km/h) for the Performance models.

Anyone know why?

Unfortunately, they just sent me an OTA update few days ago for increase my MS performance Top Speed to 163 MPH. Damn, I wish I can upgrade my Tesla from insane to ludricous

Ok, thanks for sharing. Does anyone outside US also received the OTA update for higher top speed? (262 km/t)

Well, after the recent web change showing free supercharging on S and X, the top speed has also been raised outside US to 261 km/t on Performance models. Weird that it took so long...

I had read somewhere that in Europe most of the manufacturers had reached an agreement to electronically limit their top speeds to 155mph and that Tesla had signed-up to that.
