And I profoundly, yet respectfully, disagree with Derekgrrr's view that the human stories of the miners should be omitted. It's not just these amazing machines that drive all this progress; it's the people who skillfully operate them.

Good use of underground space - public transportation.

I actually planned a trip to LA for next year and found a hotel along the metro line, and I can avoid driving while in LA and also save a lot of $ on hotel costs.
