Yes, there is a rebate thing going on. Thanks for the tip on the Rheem. I now need to find an installer. Okay, so how is technically 70% of the energy solar??? If I have it in a utility closet?

    Solar Thermal or Vacuum Tubes

Latest Update on trying to figure this out. I called a number of solar companies yesterday. Very few will upgrade any system unless they installed it. One company who says they will do it will install a second system in parallel. But they were not very enthusiastic about it and did not...

From the consultant I was talking to he implied that the only reason they haven't taken off in the US is that we have insisted just basic solar to simplify the message. So glad to hear this is successful in France! I found a contractor that has been around the block for a long time and is...

Well last time I checked and called around I was told 'your system is too old' we would just have to start from scratch. I think that was Tesla....and maybe a second person not sure. I think I may have found someone that will upgrade my solar. They have been around for 30 years so they may...

    Solar Thermal or Vacuum Tubes

I have had solar for 15 years now and the system cannot be upgraded. I have been waiting a while to heat the house with clean energy. Throwing out perfectly good panels (or donating them) seems a bit extreme, and running the electric heat pump on grid energy seems like a weak choice. I have...

    Wiki Superchargers Visited

I have looked at that route in the past and ended up never doing it. Keeping your speed under 50 the whole time would be really really long, and would likely annoy those behind you. Definitely not in the winter. that is a lot of uphill and likely up and down and curvy roads. My gut says no --...

    What is your plan B?

I know this is off topic, but so on these trips you are just driving driving and driving? And then sleeping for short periods in the car? are you exploring or going out for walks or anything?
  19. Owner

    What is your plan B?

Yup, staying at home. California has banned short-term rentals -- hotels, homes etc.. Although yes one household temporarily staying in another location likely carries little risk. Although there may be 'safe exceptions' and truly 'essential travel' -- people in general should not be traveling.

    What is your plan B?

I agree that 'can happen' but it is not very common for folks to be car camping solo or just in their 'car group from the same household' -- especially during the winter. I've seen youtube videos of folks camping and rv - ing. Most of them are meeting up with others and in and out of each...

Unfortunately it is useless to discuss things with someone who does not believe in facts. You might need to do some real research on what you believe is true or not. I'm ending this discussion.

I am hopeful that this one will happen. This will ease the difficulty with Yosemite particularly if you go up to Tioga and over to 395. Tiny little Lee Vining has a charger now but not a supercharger. My older 85 is down to 83% of its battery, so the more superchargers the merrier.

Washington Post Tesla Fire hit piece

I agree, I thought this article was not well served. What is the point other than to scare away the general public? It would be one thing if the Washington Post talked about electric cars regularly and this was one of 50 articles.

Do you need fire suppression for 3x Powerwalls in Northern California?

Can't "add on" ... or can't find someone who will merge two systems. According to Tesla at least "Unfortunately Tesla solar panels cannot be added to any third party solar system, you can however add more Tesla solar panels to an already installed Tesla solar system."
