Lease discounts on Model S 75

New inventory cars are discounted by $100 or so -- not a big deal, compared to an identical custom order car.

But on a lease, you can save thousands going for new inventory, thanks to a technicality:

On a lease, the residual value is based on a percentage of the car's MSRP, not the selling price. In this case, the residual value of a pre-price-reduction inventory car is still based on the original, higher MSRP.

Not too long ago, some folks got great leases on P90DL's this way. One person reported getting a fully loaded P90DL lease for $745/month with $6K down (here). IIRC it was on the discounted P90DL's after P100D came out, but as you say, the residual value was based on MSRP so the discount all goes into the cap cost.
