I guess that's just normal business tactic to bait people with lower estimate first.

But the sales tax was separate upfront payment of about $500 on top of downpayment, which was not included in the monthly payment anyway.
And the doc fee is $160.
And the difference over 36months is about $1300.
Therefore, about $1100 more than the website estimate.

I calculated with $4000 downpayment on Tesla.com and got $512/mo.
$4000 + $1100 (1st month payment + acquisition fee $690) = $5100 due at pick up.

Sales rep provided $550/mo with $6000 due at signing.
Downpayment + 1st mo payment + acquisition fee + up front sales tax $495 = $6000 due at pick up.

The ~$500 sales tax is the sales tax on your downpayment of $4000. The $550 includes the sales tax on the $512.

But why is tax only $423? Maybe $423 is not the sales tax.
It is probably the registration fee.
