Location Request Icon almost always there.

In a recent update an icon is now displayed when an app requests the car's location -

However, it seems to be there almost permanently. Sometimes it disappears for a few seconds and then comes on again.
I'm using the official Tesla app and Tessie on my Android phone, is there a default setting that is constantly polling the location?
Any insight is very welcome.

I'm not sure I understand the request.
Tessie constantly pulls location data from the car when it's being driven, this can be disabled in Settings > Connectivity > Disable Vehicle Tracking.
It does then severely limit the features of the app.

Tessie support added -

It will be going away soon once Tesla releases their new telemetry system that pushes data to Tessie directly. That way we won't need to communicate with the car anymore.
