I asked them about hooking the Blackvue up to my main battery, and he told me the following --

There have been a situation with our customers where they hardwired their unit to their model x and shortly afterwards the main screen was not working. The customer mentioned that tesla blamed it on the dash cam and voided the warranty. The customer continued talking to tesla but has not updated us on the situation so I am not quite sure what happened afterwards.
