loud Thump

recently, I was installing a software update while parked. Every time the air conditioning came on. I heard a loud thump like something metal was being hit when it turned off there was another loud thump. Is this normal? What causes this?

The Tesla Model Y will normally reboot the systems, sometimes more than once, while installing a software update. Perhaps the sound you heard was the high voltage contactors making connection with the high voltage battery during startup. If you continue to hear this sound while driving or while parked then you should probably create a service request using the Tesla app.
