Is this stuff happening at all hours of the day?

I called my Tesla dealer where I'm picking up (SA is at different location where I test drove). No VIN in source code and he said if I don't have a VIN paired to my account yet, I probably won't get it by end of the week. I'm out of town for 7 days starting Friday. How are you guys getting confirmations and pickup 2 days later?

My SA that I talked to last week said he can see in the system that I'm supposed to get the car between the 18-20. Does anyone know what they're talking about?

East Bay Area, California -- ordered 11/15 - got call today (Sunday) - please pickup ASAP. Didn't check for VIN over the weekend, but it was there when I logged in and checked this morning. The floodgates are opening :) good luck everybody!

Great! So when is delivery for you?

Yes, definitely answer your phone. I'm pretty sure I only saw a phone number as the ID not Tesla for example. Don't know where calls are originating from now (mine were from Reno area code I think last year) but this is a call you don't want to miss. Look forward to reading about these crazy 2 weeks + 3 days of deliveries.

This was posted a few days ago (below). Sounds like a number of people in the SF Bay area are getting their VINs today (15th). Also read that they were contacting the earlier orders first (and seen here that some October placed orders have gotten their call). When was your car ordered? Stay on top of your phone calls.

So I talked to 3 separate delivery specialist in the SF bay area. Each one disclosed different amounts of info...
1) They will be assigning VINs for SF bay area 3's on Dec 15. People at the top of the queue will get their cars starting on 12/18
2) They will expand their deliveries from Tue-Sat 9a-5p to much wider hours and days next week.

You can take this all with a grain of salt. Just summarizing what I heard

I ordered 11/27, when it said 2-3 weeks for delivery. I have auto ignore for unknown numbers, but I've got no voicemails or phone calls from Reno or California (mostly spam calls from numbers that start with my number).

I almost didn't pick up my "car call" since it was from out of state and didn't recognize the number. Same thing when I was waiting to hear back from someone at Tesla Customer Support when I had to get my account fixed. Nothing ID'ing them as coming from Tesla. If you are that close to getting your car now, I would temporarily take it off auto ignore and answer calls. You can always hang up and go back to ignore after you got your car. Haven't really seen people mention where the delivery ready calls are coming out of now. As for email, I recall one person frustrated no one was emailing him back only to discover his account was showing an email address for an older account he had changed to another provider but hadn't updated his Tesla account with. Make sure your information on your Tesla account is accurate and you are reachable.

So if they try reaching you and you don't answer, with the volume of deliveries they want to get done these last few weeks, you could find your VIN passed on to someone else and you'll be waiting longer. Delivery otherwise will likely be in a few days from getting the word of your turn. And they don't hold cars long (maybe 2 days) from what I've been seeing in posts recently. Might be different for other areas of the country depending on order volume but here in California likely every delivery center is back to back appointments throughout each day. Good luck.

A friend of ours on Long Island NY got delivery set for 12/23 too (AW LR MSM black interior--think he went with 18 aeros and ordered near end of November). He's excited, first electric car, and still has things to arrange at home for charging. Will you be "home" charging? I'm sure electricians prefer warmer weather to work in. He still has to decide on HPWC or NEMA 14-50 route so figuring he'll be making use of some nearby Superchargers for a short period of time. For him at least next Monday looks like cold but partly cloudy weather with rain and snow that weekend beforehand. See that part of the country looks to have similar weather.

Trying to get him up to speed on all things Tesla and just sent him a link to a support page that appeared in our Tesla app Inbox on winterizing your vehicle. Thought I'd share: Winter Driving Tips. Also wanted to mention to first time Tesla drivers in winter with snowy or icy conditions that Tesla recommends using the LOW setting on Regen braking instead of Standard for better traction and vehicle stability. Manual Page 62: "Warning: In snowy or icy conditions Model 3 may experience traction loss during regenerative braking, particularly when in the Standard setting and/or not using winter tires. Tesla recommends using the Low setting (see To Set the Regenerative Braking Level on page 62) in snowy or icy conditions to help maintain vehicle stability".

Since Tesla is a high tech car, hope everyone waiting for delivery is reading through the Manual. https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/model_3_owners_manual_north_america_en.pdf

Wish you both well in your delivery.

I have a Tesla Wall Charger installed at my business. My business partner has a Model S, so he had it installed over a year ago, but we just got another one installed for my Model 3 once I get it.

They won’t even leave a voice mail?? I’m in the Bay Area so I’ve figured I’m in this waiting hell with everyone else over the holidays waiting to get their car to make sure we get the tax rebate.
Unless Tesla is using the same out of state area code with my first 4 digits and not leaving a voicemail, I’m sure it’s not them calling me.

I really don’t care about the wait. I wouldn’t mind getting it next year. I just want to sign the paperwork for my taxes by Dec 31. Any money I don’t have to give Uncle Sam Trump makes me happy.

I called the Portland showroom today, I was told I should have a vin within the next 72 hrs. My tentative delivery is set December 20,21.they say it’s about 80% chance. so at least I know they haven’t forgot about me or my$60,000 that I’m trying to trade them for this awesome car! I’m visiting family in the Bay Area and will have to fly to Portland when I get the word. It will be a fun trip back to sonoma county for Christmas:)

Tax requirements are that you have to have the car "in service in the tax year" (which would be Q4 2019 for the Federal Tax Credit) and that means delivered to you, and they won't let you do the paperwork and deliver later.

Maybe someone can speak to voice mails currently. I know back in 9/2018 when I was waiting for delivery we got a phone message saying they wanted to schedule delivery. By the time we called them back later that day (wanted to coordinate with my husband), no one answered and when we got a hold of them they had moved on setting up appointments and gave the time slot and assigned the car to someone else. Think I had to wait another week or so to be contacted again when my config came up again and could be assigned to me.

As I understand it, you need to “take delivery” of the vehicle before 2020, not just sign the paperwork.

Yes, that is correct you need to take delivery for the tax credits. I'm surprised but super pump that I will take delivery after 15 days of placing my order. So the folks over in California must be working their butts off. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon. Now I have to wait 6 more days until I can pick mine up!

When do I need VIN in my source code for the tax credit?
