Got a call the other day from a number from Fremont. Needless to say I was excited when I picked up and heard the person say she’s calling from Tesla. My heart was racing and then she asked me, “Do you want to come in to test drive a Model S, X, or Y?” I said, “I already placed an order for the 3.” She’s like, “Ok, but do you want to come in for a tea drive?” I said no and asked for an update on order instead. She said, “I only schedule for test drives.” I hung up and is still in the dark since 11/3. :(

Ordered 12/4 and just got a VIN in source code today.

When I spoke with my SA last week he said to wait until I got VIN on the page and the text saying it was time to setup delivery and then to contact him and he would take care of MVPA, communication with Alliant for finishing the financing, etc.

For those that have done this before, would you wait for this, or would you go ahead and use the VIN to upload proof of insurance and pay the down payment? Do we think this moves things forward faster?

Where did you get the information to contact your SA? For the life of me I cannot find where a phone number or email to contact this person is buried. I have had a VIN in source for a week now, but not a peep from an SA. I would like to be proactive in the same way that you have been. How did you run your SA down? Thanks.

Not sure about other areas, but I went into my local service center and inquired about my order and have been in contact with a guy there ever since - he's keeping me updated on when they get deliveries and will track my vehicle by the VIN once it shows up in the system. If you have a local service center, maybe try making contact there?

Maybe instead of wasting her time calling future Tesla owners in for a test drive, she should jump onto the assembly line and help make our cars! We'll test drive it all the way home when we come take delivery! I know I will! I haven't driven one yet, going to wait till I take delivery. :D This is like getting married to a very clean (100% guaranteed clean ... don't ask how; just go with it for my example) porn star and saving yourself for marriage

Thank you. I will try that again. The Pensacola SC is new, with three employees. I already gave one of them my order number. Tomorrow I will go by there with the VIN and try again.

This has been a fun day. My VIN appeared last night, and my delivery coordinator emailed me this morning. Since I'm more than 500 miles from a SC, the plan was to do a carrier direct delivery. The guy handling that has told me that the car is in Fremont, and I'd be "highly unlikely" to get a delivery date before the end of the year with carrier direct. He advises that I hop on a flight to Salt Lake City, though we don't have dates for me to do that, yet. He also advised that I remove my trade-in from my order, since according to him, it can add a week of delay while they do the paperwork for it.

So instead of doing a carrier direct with trade-in, looks like I'll be doing no trade-in, flying to Salt Lake and driving 12 hours back in potentially nasty winter weather without winter tires. It's either that, or I don't get delivery until mid-January and throw away a $1,850 tax credit, I guess.

Someone on these forums said something about how getting a Tesla is like asking the pretty girl to prom: she'll go with you if you pull out all the stops, but she's going to make your life hell for the opportunity. That sounds about right. Still, I'm ridiculously excited to get the car, so I guess that counts for something.

12/2?
December 2nd?
Of this year??? are you sure??

i'm still waiting since October.

Darn you... I will repeat to myself.. " the wait will all be worth it"

Yeah, placed the order on Dec 2, last week. My SA does not seem super confident in having it arrive before the end of the year though.

I feel bad for all the folks who have been waiting wince October, the way they are sending out cars makes not sense to me.

I was 11/30 and will probably get to pick it up by the end of next week. Any time I have any gripes about this whole process I remember you poor bastards who have been waiting since October, or earlier. I have no idea how Tesla is ordering/prioritizing things, but that's got to be maddening.

I may have gotten super lucky. My Grand Cherokee died last week, I went to Tesla showcase on 12/10 and ordered a Red LRAWD and the SA said there was one in Chicago sitting on a train and I should have it within a week. Just did financing this morning and was approved but don't have a VIN yet.

October 25th order date here, ordered a wall charger 34 days ago and it hasn't shipped yet either - had to initiate a chargeback on my credit card to even get a reply from the onlineorders@tesla email address (had emailed them a week+ ago to check on status). Ugh :confused:. I feel like there is some sort of cosmic force attempting to tell me to back out at this point.

Congrats! Just down the road in Shorewood. Ordered 10/19 and picking up LRAWD a week from today in Westmont. Wouldn't say you were lucky, just the right end of the quarter time frame with Tesla. I almost pulled the trigger in September and would have had my pick, but needed to get a few things in order first. Here I sit about to take delivery almost two months later.

I'm actually in Indianapolis right now but grew up in the Chicago area. I'm crossing my fingers as my kid is getting tired of me hogging the Volt he usually drives.
