So this is old but never seems to die: Matt Mikka on his Warped Perception channel builds a hybrid Tesla that charges while driven. First on a gas generator. Second on a diesel. A rotary is supposedly in the works.
It does seem like that his car can recharge when parked. What is heavily disputed is whether the car really charges while driving.
I don’t think this is impossible: since Teslas can regen and put energy back into the battery while driving, it seems like previous versions of the firmware might allow some crafty hacking to slip a generator stream into the battery disguised as regenerated energy. I just don’t think it’s being done here. Or anywhere.
Thoughts?
