Model 3 SR with autopilot: $35k + $2k or $35k + $3k?

Then, the prices are SR $38000 vs SR+ $39500.

For $1500 more, you get ....
heated seats - worth $500 to me
faster 0-60 time by 0.3 sec - worth $500 to me
20 miles extra - worth $500 to me
better stereo, streaming music & sat nav - worth nothing to me.

Before the change
vinyl power memory seats - worth $500 to me.
fog lights - worth $10 to me.

What else am I forgetting?

SR+ is a good deal, if you ask me.

I just called to ask about downgrading my SR+ (I am on day 6 of my 7 day delivery return window). The local Tesla store didn't pick up so I got bounced to Tesla HQ operator who said that they just got clarification on the process and I'd have to bring my SR+ back to the local store and return it and place a new order for a SR. Hoping she was just making that up because that seems like it would cost Tesla even more, but they are making it much harder to get the base SR if that's true.

When did SR+ get streaming music & sat map? Mine doesn't have that.

Here is how I would interpret the blog post on the Tesla web site:

“Its range will be limited by 10%, and several features will be disabled via software (including our onboard music streaming service, navigation with live traffic visualization, and heated seats).”

The author of this blog was confusing the features on a Premium Interior with a Partial Premium Interior and did not realize that SR+ never had traffic visualization. SR+ did have heated front seats but not rear seats. So the blog provided a vague comment about heated seats which could be interpreted as all heated seats have been disabled or just the rear ones like the SR+. it was poorly written and so we don’t know what they intended to say here.

As soon as someone takes delivery of an actual SR that has been software locked we can find out what the real situation with the seats is. The Tesla sales team seems to think it means all seats have been heat disabled but I’m not sure if they are correct or not.

“Similar to other software-limited vehicles produced in the past, Standard customers will have the option to upgrade to a Standard Plus at any time. Similarly, anyone who has already bought Standard Plus and wants to convert to Standard is welcome to do so, and we will provide a refund for the difference in cost.”

This clearly leads one to believe that a downgrade involves locking features through software and receiving a refund. It does not in any way imply returning your SR+ and ordering an SR. It makes no sense. An SR and SR+ are now exactly the same car except if you downgrade they lock out certain software features. So any car you choose from inventory could be either an SR or and SR+. Why would they ask you to return one and pick up another. Tesla is just doing their usual job of failing to communicate procedures to the sales and delivery teams. It will all get sorted out eventually.

Right, except only a “few clicks away” on Tesla’s website describing the difference between the “new” SR vs SR+......
